I was successfully cyber-stalked!!

I got a call from HR at work - telling me that someone I went to high school with had called and was looking for me. He'd left his phone number and his email address. I recognized the name as a guy I dated 28 years ago when I was in the Navy. So, I e-mailed him.

Yep, it was my first boyfriend. He found me thru classmates and had left me a message there, but I hadn't checked that site in months. He's retired from the Navy now, married with 5 kids, and living in Oak Harbor, WA. Funny thing is, just the other day, my husband was asking me about the guys I used to date, and I had told him about this one. How very weird...

He had posted his pic at classmates - and he's aged well. And he mentioned me in his Military Memories: "Michelle was her name." I'm the only one mentioned from those years. Now the old memories rush back - I thought I was in love with him back then and I often wondered what became of him. I knew he'd married and divorced twice - I used to write to his mother, but after she died, I lost all track of him.

I think I'll dig out my old photo album and sing a chorus or two of "The Way We Were" - ah, young lust....

Don't do that! You had us all worried for the time it to the browser to open your post. At any rate I'm glad it was a positive experience.

Dang - sorry... I meant for the word "successfully" to give a positive tone. Guess I'm just happy-goofy about the whole thing and I wasn't thinking. Perhaps "stalked" wasn't the best word to use.

Actually, having people track you down can be a blessing and curse, of course. I have had several old friends find me (I am pretty easy to find; my full name yields every page on my website). I just got an email from someone I knew in third grade! It's amazing. And I have a very dear friend now who found me via the 'net; we were friends in high school, and she found me while fooling around on the web. She redesigned my website, and now I see her and her family once or twice a year!

Whenever I try to track people down, though, I never have any joy. Oh well. Some girlfriends are best left in the past. ;-)

I was able to hook up with my best friend from high school - well, hook up is too strong a word - we traded a couple of e-mails, but it ended quickly. Most of the people I would like to find had very common names, so the search would have been impractical. The one guy who had a unique name (my first crush in 5th grade) has eluded me.

Dave was able to find me because my maiden name is unusual - in fact, my family is it in the state of Maryland. I gave enough information on my classmates profile that he was able to connect with the correct HR office. I still can't get over it - somebody cared enough to go to such efforts. I feel so loved!!

I'll be OK when the giddiness fades... really I will!!

I found a number of high school pals through classmates. It's great to see how their lives have turned out. Most have moved away from Chicago, but they're still the same people I knew all those years ago. Most of them I've known since JR. HIGH!

I recently caught up with some people I hung out with 10 years ago in high school. I was reminded of how much I hated them, and haven't bothered to call them since we hung out.

Cool FairyChatMom! It's happened to me a few times courtesy of classmates also. Matter of fact, the 30 year reunion is happening soon. Think I'll break out the Geritol and go.

swampbear, this year should have been my 30th, but I went to school with a bunch of people who apparently didn't want to see each other after graduation. At our 10-year reunion, maybe 200 out of 849 showed up, so I shouldn't have been surprised.

I updated my classmates profile, just in case anyone else wants to track me down. Who else is wondering about me??

yeah, I know you all wonder about me sometimes...

Same thing happened to me last year - a woman I new when I was in college tracked me down via the internet. We dated a while too. Alas, we were looking for different things from the relationship.
