Any recommendations on a B&B in Victoria, BC?

I have a conference in Vancouver in late November and Mrs. AG & I plan on spending the previous weekend in Victoria. Because of the drive/ferry involved, we'll spend the night there, and would like to do the B&B thing, which we haven't done in a couple years.

Do any Dopers have recommendations on particular B&Bs in the area? Thanks!

p.s. I already have several links to assorted B&Bs--I'm looking more for personal (or second-hand) testimonials to pare down the decision-making a little. Thanks again.

Can't recommend a specific one... but I suggest looking in Sooke. It's about a 30-40 minute (scenic) drive out of Victoria, and a real nice place to visit.

I can highly recommend Binners B&B in Victoria. The wife and I stayed there a couple of years ago and got a great off-season deal. It was in February so it wasn't quite the hot season, but it was a blast. The full name is A B & B, A Beautiful Island Away...Binners Bed and Breakfast. Quite the mouthful huh?

We stayed in the Honeymoon suite which is nicely appointed, has heated bathroom floors and a nice little reading area. The hosts are really good people also, they make it a comfortable place to be. The web address is http://www.abeautifulislandaway.com . If you're leaving too early to get breakfast, they'll pack you a picnic breakfast to go for the ferry ride.

We stayed in a nice B&B in Mill Bay, not that I can remember what it was callled now. The area was beautiful, beachfront property, and if you looked carefully, you'd see hummingbirds flying by the kitchen window from time to time.

I never stayed at a B&B in Victoria (being a local and all) but I lived down the street from The Beaconsfield Inn, and it's lovely. I always wanted to stay there for a weekend but never had the opportunity.

It's in a beautiful neighbourhood, and the place is about a five minute walk from downtown Victoria.

A bunch of us went to the Seaside Luxury Resort a couple of years ago. The rooms are awesome. I stayed in the Emerald Suite. We did get breakfast, but it was a little disorganized. There was a girl in the kitchen, and we asked her to cook eggs and bacon for us. They didn't have a "standard" breakfast, so everyone was coming up to this girl and she cooked to order. Maybe it was just that visit though.

The grounds are nice, and the common area is a good place to hang out. The bathroom in our suite was the size of my living room. A couple of friends (the only married couple) had the Diamond Suite, and we hung out up there a lot. I didn't see the other two rooms our group got.

Prices were very reasonable.

Ex-local here.

I reallize they're not B&B's, but I've stayed at the Empress Hotel (which would cost a lot of $$) and the Old England Inn. I was young for the Inn, but I recall really enjoying the ambiance.

After a quick search on Google, your choices seem to be endless. I hope you have a wonderful stay. I'm a sucker for those Victorian homes and would kill to stay in a few of those B&B's.

Please post your choice and experience when you return!

Wow, some great selections! Thanks everyone.

I'll be booking this week so I'll give her one more bump for any new responses.

And gulo, I'll be sure to let you all know which I picked and how the weekend goes.
