Help with printer timeout error.

Help. I need to print out some important documents, and my printer isn't working. I get an error message:
Quote:
There was an error writing to LPT1 ... A printer timeout error occurred. To increase the timeout settings for your computer, open the printers folder, click the icon for your printer, click the File menu, and then click Properties.
But when I open the printers folder, I don't even see an icon for my printer. WTH?

Should I just uninstall and re-install?

Thanks.

What operating system are you running? Windows 9x would sometimes not show any printers if you just had a spool32 error. Have you rebooted? If you have and the printer icon is still not there, just Add the Printer again.

I've rebooted. It's been doing this about a week.

i had a very similar problem with my computer. seems there was some sort of problem with the computer being able to talk to the printer. i think the cat peed on the usb port.

I've heard of a USB mouse but never of a USB cat.

LPT1 is a parl port, not a usb port.

Get a new cable, I have to get a new printer cable alot. esp when I used cheap ones.

Also run the printer self test when not connected to the computer.
