A Little Premature, I know, but is anyone looking forward to HBO;s "Deadwood"?

I love westerns. I love HBO's television shows. So I cannot wait for HBO's "Deadwood" which'll be coming sometime this winter. Just wondering, is anyone else looking forward to this?

I don't have HBO, but just wondering if it's based upon Pete Dexter's book? Moot point, I guess, since I won't be watching. The book is great, if anyone is interested.

I'm not sure having never read the book, but if it helps I believe Deadwood takes place around Little Bighorn right after Custer's defeat there. I don't know if that makes it clear whther or not its based on the book.
