The Raiders have finally found a new head coach and it's...Norv Turner?!?

ESPN is reporting that Al Davis has offered Norv Turner the head coaching job in Oakland. He’s reportedly getting a 5-year deal.

I’m quite familiar with Turner, being a Redskins fan. My opinion is that he makes a great offensive coordinator, but a lousy head coach. The main man needs to have a commanding presence, which Turner does not. He’s too soft spoken. If the players in Oakland can essentially run out Bill Calahan, how long until they drive Turner away, too?

Also, I seem to remember that Turner cut Rich Gannon about 10 years ago in Washington. Will they be able to mend things? Or does this mean that Gannon is on the way out?

Comments anyone?
