WASHINGTON - The government has eased Clinton-era oil and gas drilling restrictions on a large tract of desert grassland in New Mexico in a decision that benefits a large Republican donor in the state.The donor, George Yates, says his contributions and fund-raising assistance to Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) had nothing to do with the decision.

Let’s not overeact. As long as there is energy to be had, people will want to get it and people will fight to prevent that from happening. It’s always been this way, and 8 years will not appreciably ruin the environment. Besdies, that also assumes that you think the environment is more important than energy exploitation, which I don’t.

Lets send Bush and his cronies back into the holes they crawled out of in November.

Don’t let me stop you. In fact, let me help. But don’t think for a minute that environmental causes matter to me enough to influence my vote, because they don’t.
