Who is it that is definitely going to subscribe to the SMDB? I am tempted to, but I think it strongly depends on how many are going to, ahem, stay.

Absolutely. And while I am at it, I will see if i can get a couple of lurkers I know to register before the price jumps.

Yeah, I’ll be subscribing. It really is quite a bargain for a year and if I don’t like how things turn out then I simply won’t re-subscribe. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

What green_bladder said. I’ll be joining on Monday and we’ll see how it goes in the next year. The money is absolutely not an issue for me, but the tone of the boards and the friendships I’ve developed here are. If the fun and spontaneity disappear, if most MADs go elsewhere, I won’t have much reason to hang around. So we shall see.

How/where do you send in payments? What method of payments are accepted? Depending on what form of payments will be accepted, I can subscribe for the first year at least. I asked these questions in the sticky, but have not recieved an answer yet.

Yeah, I pay more per year to WWF to prevent animals, I will never see, from becoming extinct. I’ll do the same for the SDMB. Once I work out the logistics and my budget I’ll even pay for a few young/unemployed Dopers who would otherwise quit.

I can’t imagine not subscribing for a measly five bucks, but like FairyChatMom said, if it changes too much I might not come back for a second year.

BTW, lady, you’re not fooling anybody. As long as Rue is here, you’ll be here.

I’m staying. I already gave up one addiction this past year (smoking). I can’t give up another! Besides, it’s a cheap addiction. :smiley:

Oh! I just now saw that they’re going to start charging. Oh well, it’s been nice while it lasted. I won’t pay, even though $5 is a measly sum.

Not to change the subject, but does anyone know another free message board that’s fairly interesting?

I want more info on that too. I am a staunch PayPal boycotter. Hate, hate, HATE them.

(With 2869 Better Business Bureau complaints against them in the past 36 months, I’m not alone.)

THE SDMB wouldn’t be crazy enough to use PayPal as the only payment option, I’m sure.

I’m definately getting $5 worth of frusteration and annoyance per year.

I would much prefer a per post charge. Just because I love the idea of people sending a penny taped to a postcard every time they post.

It makes me giggle.
