From here:
“And what a surprise you’re the one to defend it.”
What the fuck is THAT supposed to mean?

“And what a surprise you’re the one to defend it.”
What the fuck is THAT supposed to mean?
I mean that for someone who knows “tons of racists” and doesn’t think it’s a big deal, it’s not a surprise that you feel comfortable throwing around racist jokes.
I’ve heard of “dropping the kids off at the pool” but never “dropping Rudy Huxtable off at the pool”.
I wouldn’t get mad that it’s racist, I’d get mad that it’s increadibly lame.
Now that I think about it, that has to be one of the lamest sayings I’ve ever seen.
Listen you sad, weaselly son of a bitch. I’ve seen racism. I’ve looked it in the eyes and it fucking sucks. I grew up in a part of the country and in a time when it could not be avoided.
I grew up around racist teachers, racist parents (not my own, thank god), racist classmates, and racist preachers. Racist employers and coworkers when I got older. A few of my best friends in elementary and jr. high school could not let their parents know we were friends because they didn’t want their sons associating with white folk.
I grew up dealing with that shit and thank god I’m stronger for it.
And yes, sometimes my outlook on these matters becomes too positive, or lenient if you will. I don’t want people to think that I’m a “racist sympathizer”, because that’s not the case at all. I have an extreme dislike for true racism and I will raise my voice against it each and every time I hear it, whether it’s from someone I’ve know all my life or some jerk on the sidewalk. However, I don’t feel that “dropping Rudie Huxtable off at the pool” conveys true racism. It could be distastesful, yes, but most of the phrases in that thread were, and I’ve heard just as many of my black friends use it as my white friends. It’s a pop-culture euphemism plain and simple.
I really think you need to take a step back and look at what is true harmful racism and what are dick and fart jokes that have been spun into racism by people who wouldn’t like them if they had nothing to do with race.
And if you want to look down on me because I like to take a positve outlook on things and I refuse to individually condemn and disassociate myself with every single person I know that might be considered a racist (which has become a completely subjective term), then fuck you. Fuck you hard.
I’ve seen true racism and I’ll make the judgement calls on when I should start picking splinters out of other people’s eyes.
In any case, this has absolutely nothing to do with the thread you brought it up in. The real reason you did it was to be a dick and that’s why you’re being pitted. I’ve never noticed you until recently so I can’t say if this is common behavior for you but I will notice you in the future and if these trends continue I will do my best to stay as far away as possible from the sewage you spit here.
[sub]*all references to god and christianity are a result of western culture and do not reflect my religious views.[/sub]
Godamnit I can’t believe I just wasted my time pitting someone who thinks cars should be illegal.
:smack: :smack: :smack: :smack: :smack:
Woah, remind me never to piss you off Cisco.
Ya know, horsefucker does seem a tad harsh…
I didn’t say the joke was that big of a deal, but it does compare blacks to shit, you did say racism wasn’t a big deal in a previous thread, so I put two and two together and the result was one snarky retort.
I can see where the Rudy Huxtable reference could be taken wrong (she was just so damn cute!) Try dropping off Luis Farrakahn (sp?) and try to get the racist bomb thrown at you. (Especially any Jews that want to use it)
I think I’ve heard the same expression, but as “dropping the Cosby kids off at the pool”
Of course, they were never the Cosbys on the show or in real life, but I think most people get it, while only those who actually saw the show would recognize the Huxtable name, let alone the name of one child in particular.
And I’ll agree that it’s not inherently racist, but is undeniably stupid and generally unfunny.
Because everyone knows that the kid that played Rudy Huxtable is representative of all black people .
I’ve never seen the show. I don’t know if you’re Merkin but the show was huge enough here that the average joe is going to know the Huxtable name.
The joke only works because the Cosby kids are black, and thus the color of feces. Tee-hee.
The joke only works because the Cosby kids are black, and thus the color of feces. Tee-hee. The only reason the Cosby kids are used is because they’re an easy pop-cultural reference as an example of black people, not because of any other specific qualities they may hold.
You know… being an Australian, I kinda think I’m excused for asking this question, but who’s Rudy Huxtable? It’s not a Cosby Show reference is it? Because that was the family name, wasn’t it? The Huxtables?
Whatever, in the abscence of knowing who Rudy Huxtable is, and just how far the supposed implications extend to throwing his name around, I have to say that any potential racist overtones are, to this particular Doper, are somewhat arcane at the very least.
Ahhh, I see Pizzabrat answered my question.
Excuse the close timing of posts then.
Move right along.
Ok, then what quality or personality trait does Rudy Huxtable possess that makes her the appropriate choice for this figure of speech?
From the other thread:
Well, as shown in countless threads about specific word/language use, just cos you’ve never heard anyone complain about it doesn’t mean it hasn’t/doesn’t upset someone, somewhere in the world.
*bolding added to refelct your empasis in original quote.
However, that was pure genius!
T’would be nice if pizzabrat would discontinue her role as brave moral crusader saving us from driving, racism and fast food. In this case the OP was asking for euphemisms we had heard. Cisco wasn’t endorsing the phrase he used, nor did he make it up. Hell, I thought it was funny. IMO of course the slur on his character was out of line.
What if she’s an obnoxious little shit?
(Personally, I never use that expression, but I can’t stand the “cute, precocious little kid” stereotype in sitcoms.)
This is the first time I ever heard the term and it sounds racist to me.
I’ve always heard it as “drop the kids off at the pool”
Other than that, I don’t really care what either of you do with the horse…as long as the horse consents.
