I’m sorry, make that a $ 500,000. camera.
It’ll all come out in the wash.
*Oompa loompa doobity-doo
I’ve got a little puzzle for you
Oompa loompa doobity-doe
Answer me this 'cause I’ve gotta know…
What do you do when your tech is a hack?
Rigging up cameras while he is on crack!
Bubble gum and coathangers will not do the trick…
Who wants a half-million dollar choc-late brick?
Only a total spaz does…
Only a total spaz does…
Only a total spaz does…
Oompa loompa doobity dee
If you are wise you’ll listen to me!
Oompa loompa doobity doo
Someone take the crack pipes away from the crew!
Doobity-doo!*
Beautiful, Marlitharn, just beautiful!
Awwww, man! Why do they have to remake perfection?
So a whole new generation of kids can be deeply disturbed by Oompa Loompas.

From the article:
I guess now they know…
[Smothers Brothers]
Oh, I fell in a vat of chocolate
I fell in a vat of chocolate
I fell in a vat of chocolate
Dolly-do-dum-dolly-do-dum-dayyyyy…
[/Smothers Brothers]
Now, I am sure the accident and this song could be worked into the scene with Mike Teevee. And millions would pay to see it.
Someone e-mail the studio.
Well, other than Gene Wilder, I can’t think of anyone more suited for the role of Willy Wonka that Johnny Depp, so the casting doesn’t worry me.
What worries me is that they will somehow devise politically correct Oompa Loompas and delete the LSD ride down the chocolate river. Then again, politically incorrect Oompa Loompas and an LSD ride sound right up Johnny’s alley, so maybe I have nothing to worry about.
Policatally correct Oompa Loompa–an oxymoron.
Did you know that the Oompa Loompas you see in the movie ARE the politically correct versions?
To clarify, I’m referring to the Gene Wilder movie.
I’m assuming you must mean that in the original book, the depiction of Oompa Loomas was even less flattering than the movie? That may well be, I’ll admit that it has been years since I read the books, but Dahl had such a sharp sense of humor and was wonderfully irreverant in the best of times, so it wouldn’t surprise me.
Now I need to get the book again.
For those of us who were too young to have noticed when watching the movie/reading the book, can someone explain exactly how the two forms portrayed our Favorite Midgets[sup]TM[/sup] in unflattering ways?
They were originally African pygmies.

“Grunka-lunka, dunkity-damera-”
“Shut the hell up!”
We had a thread in September about the Oompa-Loompas vs. the Munchkins.
Yes, it was a long day, why?
Anyway, here’s my first contribution.
And a link to the way cool book as well as the movie songs sung by the O-Ls.
I yelled fire when I fell into the chocolate,
I yelled fire when I fell into the chocolate…
Why did you yell fire when you fell into the chocolate?
'Cuz I didn’t think anyone would save me if I yelled
CHOCOLATE!!!
