First: The Who’s, What’s, Where’s & Why’s of the Additional 6@6 Poll
In an attempt to squeeze as many bands in the shortest amount of time possible, as an occasional feature, The Tuesday 6 @ 6 Polls include a Headliner poll, Supplemental & Additional poll. This Doobie Brothers poll, like the featured Doors, the Deep Purple Headliner and the Def Leppard Poll threads will be closed and tallied 7 days from today, Tuesday October 12, 2004 at or about 6PM EDT. Results from all the polls will be posted a few minutes later on that same day in Week #44’s Featured Bo Diddley 6 @ 6 Poll.

Second: The Poll & How it Works
All you have to do is list your six favorite tracks from this week’s featured artist. If you’d like to add your own liner notes or opinions, please go right ahead – I, for one, love reading them. If you specify a live version, it will be noted, but tallied with the studio version. Cover versions (performed by the artist we’re polling) are acceptable, as are duets and off-shoot projects. Please try to be as accurate as possible when naming your favorite tracks.

I guess I always preferred the earlier version of the Doobies, when Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons were running things. I mostly lost interest when Michael McDonald became the leader. I DID like “What a Fool Believes,” though.

Black Water (great to figure out if you’ve got a channel missing on your stereo setup: on the a capella section, there are different vocal lines in each speaker - in a completely informal survey here at work, most people didn’t hear the line “I wanna honky tonk/honky tonk/honky tonk/with you all night long” as clearly, or were less prone to sing along with it)

  5. Without You (yeah, The Captain And Me made a pretty big impression when I first heard it)

  6. Steamer Lane Breakdown (from Minute By Minute - I loved it most when they got a little outside what would have been expected, and the bluegrass feel of this is a nice break from the soon-to-be-typical McDonaldisms through the rest of the album)
