Kerry Supporters Accepting Bush

Now that President Bush won the election, will you Kerry people join forces so that we don’t have a divided nation?

I’ll accept that he won, if that’s what you mean.

But I won’t like it. No sir, I won’t like it. Nor will I stop voicing my opinion and working for a change.

No.

No.

That other Americans voted for him does not take away his errors.

If he does win, he has 4 short years to correct his mistakes. He has yet to earn back the trust he betrayed.

No; I won’t unite behind him for the sake of unity.

Join forces? Define, please. If ‘join forces’ means ‘go along with whatever Bush wants, question nothing, oppose nothing, even if you do have a differing opinion’ then nope, not likely.

I reserve the right to think for myself and voice my opinion, whether Bush likes it or not.

What is Bush going to do try and unite us?

Will I support Bush wholesale, uncritically?

No.

I will look at his policies individually, and decide which ones I support.

I will criticize the policies I disagree with. I will work against those policies with which I disagree via unpartisan, democratic methods.

I will continue to support our president in times of conflict.

I will not withhold criticism when the president directs conflict against the wrong target, or does a disreputable job when managing his response to a conflict.

I will demand that the president, and his staff, be held accountable for failures to execute policy, whether I agree with that policy or not.

Yes, of course I will!

Please direct me to my loin-cloth and shovel so I can begin building the next pyramid to Pharoah Bush, President / Diety.

Back in 2000, Bush described himself as “A uniter, not a divider”.

Now, in 2004, we’ve got one of the most polarized elections in my memory.

Good effin’ job, Shrub.

Hell no.

Four years ago, the difference between left and right was merely a question of tax cuts and school vouchers. I was not that upset when Bush was appointed; I was mostly just relieved that the election was over. After all, he couldn’t be any worse than his old man, right?

Today, I look at every Bush voter, to a person, as a hate-filled bigot. Right-wingers have offended me as a woman, as a person of non-heterosexual orientation, and as an American. I take their choice of candidate very personally. I will not “unite” with them under any circumstances.

Tell me, how is it a good thing for me to “agree to disagree” with people who consider me a second-class citizen?

Republicans SUCK.

Keep up this attitude. It will serve your party well in future elections.

Maybe if people were denying you your basic civil rights, you’d be angry too.

I think it just reminds me how fucking STUPID Americans really are.

You’ve backed Bush which means you agree with what he does. Things will just get worse.

I’m just glad I won’t have to clean up that mess.

What party? I belong to no political party, nor do I vote based upon party platforms.

I vote for the good of the whole and not party politics. That others chose to base their vote by other means does not make a bad choice the correct choice.

The last quote I heard was that the president is leading the popular vote by just over 100,000 votes out of approximately 120,000,000 cast - less than 1/10 of a per cent, if I’m not completely hosing the math. You are asking the wrong question. You should be asking your fellow Republicans what they are going to do to widen that gap.

Of course, if you intend to keep playing divider rather than uniter please continue starting threads like this one.

No more polarized than 2000. The red/blue map is identical. The only difference I see, at this point, is popular vote is decidedly in favor of Bush. Thus, it seems we’re moving in the united direction.

Where are you getting your info? CNN is reporting about a 3.5M difference.

Bush: 52.57M
Kerry: 49.03M

I think that it is a lot more like a few million.

Oh, you mean like Republicans joined forces with Clinton when he was president? Oh, wait - no they didn’t. They fucking fought his ass every step of the way.

I’m very disappointed in the responses thus far: if you’re not going to accept or at least acquiesce to the will of the majority, why bother with democracy?
