derek jeter.

so. my grandfather is turning 82 and is madly in love with the yankees. apparently his favorite yankees are derek jeter and the catcher, i don’t even know his name, because “they are real yankees.” regardless, i would like to get him something for his birthday like an autograph or a picture or something. i don’t know. does anyone know where either of them hang out or live or how i could get into contact with them?
if this sounds psychotic it was not meant to.
thanks.

eBay is a great place to look for this kind of crap.

Here is an autographed photo, Here is a Jeter-signed 1998 WS ball, etc. Just go to ebay.com and search for “Derek Jeter.”

The catcher’s name is Jorge Posada.

I suggest you write to the Yankees and explain the situation in detail. (Don’t take this the wrong way, but get someone to proofread the letter. In my experience major league teams are pretty good about that stuff. Say you’d like some signed photos of Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada, say please a lot, and you’ll likely get them.

Forgot this part. The Yankees’ mailing address (you’re likelier to succed with mail)

New York Yankees
Yankee Stadium
161st St and River Ave
Bronx, NY 10452

Hardly a GQ worthy question.

Jeter and Posada, along with Bernie Williams and Mariano Rivera, are all career Yankees who have not played for any other team. Those four are the only ones remaining from the 1996 team, which was the first of the Yankee’s recent championships. Not coincidentally, all except Williams (1991) joined the team in 1995.

Are they still trying to shop Posada for Randy Johnson?

I just got to the page, but the Yankees have an official online store where you can shop for things. This removes some of the question as to the legitimacy of an autograph. I did a search on Jeter and the following is the link that is a result:
