My old electronic project was called The Tic Tok Men which was laid to rest this week.
I really liked the name but no one could spell it (Tick Tock? Tik Tok? Tic Toc? Tic Tac?). Plus, that project has been around for years but people still compare it to Kraftwerk even though nothing like that has been released for years.
So, the project was killed off.
Now I need a new name. Something that will cover various genres of music. Something that sounds cool. Something google-able.
The album we were working on was called “Tape Op refugees” which I thought could be cool, but it doesn’t roll off the tongue very well. Some people think I should use my real name, Seven Graylands. But that doesn’t seem fair to the other people that play in the project from time to time.
People are always pointing out band names here. Now is your REAL chance to name a band.
And to the person who picks a name I like and will use, I will award you a Tic Tok Men CD (or one of mine) of your choice. No charge.
(I put this here because it is more of a poll then musical in context)
That’s a hard one. The genres are all over the place. Some will be electronic (not raver techno - more electro-pop stuff). One album we’re working on is sort of a Talking Heads meets dance with a rap line over the whole mess. Some will be ambient. There are some guitar/rock type tracks (and I might even try to get a license for the Ska cover of Don’t Fear the Reaper) TellMeI’mNotCrazy - Thanks.
I always though “breast” would be a good name for a band. Imagine people saying “I knew breast when they were small, look how big they’ve got” so on and so forth.
I had a bandname moment at work today. Someone was talking about putting a computer in the bathroom so he can check his email while having a piss. Then he said he could install some telephone software to take calls.
I said “oh yeah, I’ve heard of that - Voice over my pee”
I often remark on the synchronicity that happens with SDMB activities. Earlier today I had trhe thought that a really good, simple t-shirt design would be the 7 deadly sins spraed about the front of a shirt in various fonts and colours. I then thought what a great name for a band. The posters would look the same as the t-shirt with just a time and place at the bottom for gigs.
