Tallest Buildings Graphic
Sometime after 9/11, there was a link to a graphic showing the world's tallest buildings, starting with the Great Pyramid, the Eiffel Tower, the WTC etc. drawn to scale.
If anyone has the link to the graphic, could you repost it please? Also, I'm looking for information on the tallest building in 1865 besides the Great Pyramid. Any ideas? Thanks, JohnGalt |

I know what you are looking for. I've seen it within the last week, but I can't find a link to it right now. However, this site may be even better. At the bottom of the page you can search by year and have graphics come up. You'll be looking at churches mainly, considering the time frame.

At the time it was completed, the Washington Monument was the tallest structure in the world... But it was still under construction in 1865. At that time, it was in the interim between two construction phases, so the height is well-known, 156 feet, 4 and 1/8 inches (compared to 555 feet, 5 and 1/8 inches for the finished structure). I don't know how many buildings in 1865 were taller.

That site has beautiful artwork, but, alas, is severely broken for navigation. Who makes a page with frames and then disallows vertical scrolling? I had to open the frame's contents into a new tab, where the scroll bar appeared.
Surely they wouldn't be closed-minded-enough to include page features specific to one browser?

The navigation of this site takes some getting used to, but its the mother of all high-rise databases!
