Have you ever been arrested?

Have you ever been arrested? If so, what for? How long were you in jail?

I’ve was arrested for speeding, 90 in a 55 zone, and no proof of insurance (I had insurance, just didn’t have proof [expired card]) I spend probably a total of about 8 hours in jail, was arrested after picking up my SO from the airport and was driving home. It was a sunny day, and no one on the expressway. I guess the cop just wanted to teach me a lesson.

Have I, yes.

Did you learn your lesson?

I have, but not yet for speeding.

I can’t say that I’ve been arrested - closest I’ve come is getting removed from the premises by security.

I was climbing trees with some friends of mine at uni, and it was pretty late (around midnight). None of us had any ID with us (or anything, for that matter - it tends to fall out of your pockets), so he just informed us that it was illegal and basically told us to bugger off and not do it again. I know that this is all pretty wussy compared to getting arrested, but I continue to climb trees and I’ve got my eye on the prize.

Never spent more than a day in jail.

No I haven’t but EEP! it seems I should have been. Well, it was 115 in a 70 mph zone in BFE and he checked for proof of insurance by radio or however they do, (plus how could I not have a license? and the tags were in the glove compartment-- I just hadn’t put them on). Maybe that’s why I didn’t land in the pokey.

Once when I was a kid. Juvenile mischief stuff. Well, hardly arrested. Mom was pissed though.

More MPSIMS than IMHO, but still…

Once for a traffic violation when I was just turned 16. Wasn’t even my fault and eventually the judge reduced the ticket to a light slap because of the situation. The 3 ‘witnesses’ judged my speed to be between 35mph and 75mph…Hmmm…40mph difference from 3 different people standing next to each other.

I’ve never been arrested. I’ve only gotten a ticket for no seat belt and it must have worked because I’ve never gone without it since that day! I rarely went without it before, but I got lazy when it was just a trip around the corner to the store. They got me less than a block from my house.

I’ve had my vehicle searched for sitting in my van out in my own apartment complex parking lot. They didn’t find a thing, but only because they didn’t search hard enough.

Never, ever.

Got a ticket for smoking in between train cars once when I was 16. That’s it. That’s all I got.

Jesus, that’s a felony in my state!

I was arrested once and spent the night in jail for something I didn’t do, wasn’t even in town,as a matter of fact.

Yeah, twice. Spent about 12 hours each time. I do not like jail.

I was arrested in about ‘98 for Drunk & Disorderly - wandering back from a James Bond theme party I hurled abuse from a distance at two police cars idling beside each other in the street without considering that they were talking through open windows, something about how they indulging in a late-night homosexual rendezvous (I may have phrased it differently at the time…). Was driven to the station, and had to empty my pockets onto the front desk, including a toy plastic gun some girl had given me at the party; soon after which I picked the gun back up and ‘threatened’ the surrounding officers with the words "Get down on the floor all o’ you motherfuckers!". Some of them found this quite funny, but the remainder locked me in a cell for the night.

I certainly wouldn’t recommend captivity though, that one night was surprisingly unpleasant.

When I was in college, I got caught with an altered driver’s license (so I could drink underage). I was taken down to the station and booked. I posted bail and walked out without actually going to a cell or anything. The judge sentenced me to a couple of weekends of washing firetrucks and ambulances, and it was expunged from my record.

Closest I have come was a jay walking ticket my freshman year in high school , 1974 .

I’m such a rebel . :stuck_out_tongue:

According to your location, your in southern Georgia. I live in Atlanta, Ga (well, just outside Atlanta) but it wasn’t a felony here.

I was arrested and spent two nights in jail. I don’t recommend it to anyone. Seriously, obeying the law is more fun than captivity.

It was not a motor vehicle-related arrest.

I’ve never been arrested but I have been in the back seat of a patrol car. I had decided to walk home from summer school and this officer saw me resting on the side of a bridge, he thought I was going to fall so he gave me a ride home.

I’m not sure. When I was in high school, I got snagged for having altered my license (wound up being a felony 'cause of a weirdness with Florida licenses) and taken to JV. They just kept me 'til my dad could come pick me up (maybe three hours; he was hard to reach 'cause he was at the gym). I’m not really sure if that’s officially “arrested” or not although I was hand-cuffed and rode in the back of the cruiser.

If you don’t mind my asking… did you consent to the search?
