This is just about the most fascinating, abhorrent thing I've ever read. Written by the guy who murdered the family & took the little girl; she was rescued after being recognized at Denny's (her name's Shasta Groene):

And it's exactly the way novelists always describe psychopaths - he's rational at times, interesting and likable even. Until the demons take over.

I'm betting the decline was described in much more detail until the authorities found out whose blog it was and deleted some pages.

Sex offenders and pedophiles were the big topic on Oprah today, she's launching a campaign to help get fugitives off the streets. Not sure whether or not I want to thank the friend who told me about the show (which I'd missed); it's now quarter after one, and I may be finished compulsively researching the issue (found the pedos in my zip code, that's for sure).

Reading that blog was amazing. No idea how I'm supposed to sleep.
