Okay, we know that not everyone likes the Google ads. Presumably, most people who are offended by them have taken the simple step of blocking them.
We also know that many people have stated (especially before they worked properly) that they wouldn’t mind them so much if there weren’t so many for marketing lists.
I’m sure you think that using your sig line to attempt to mislead the AdSense spiders into thinking that we’re really preoccupied with mailing lists is really funny. Who knows? Maybe somebody else does, too.
Leaving aside that deliberately trying to replace targeted ads with ads for something we’re sure nobody around here wants is petty and somewhat dickish –
For the love of god, stop appending your .sig to every goddamned post. There’s no reason for it to appear ten times on a page, apart from your desire to monkey-wrench the Reader’s collateral revenue stream. Even if it was the cleverest .sig ever, I don’t want to see it a hundred times a day. It’s much more irritating than the goddamn ads, which I can at least filter out without losing other content that I wish to view.
Darn it, if I’m gonna pit someone over something relatively trivial, I expect an argument out of it, at least. It’s not every day someone manages to get a hair up there.
