I just saw Devil again recently on On Demand and it helped me remember that that was the role that put Cheadle on my favorite actors list. That smallish thing was so fine. He was equally great in the Clooney-Lopez thing. At First Sight or something similar. Lazy enough to avoid IMDB to clarify.

Annette Bening – Whatever her role was in The Grifters

Glenn Close – The psycho bitch in Fatal Attraction
-
Judy Garland – Dorothy Gale, The Wizard of Oz

Holly Hunter – Whatever her role was in Broadcast News
-
Halle Berry – Catwoman, Catwoman
-
Charlize Theron – I knew she was in either Monster’s Ball or Monster, and an IMDb search informed me it was the latter. I’ve never seen either of those films, in case you couldn’t guess that fact. I remember her being interviewed by Jay Leno on The Tonight Show and talking about having a gorilla communicate the fact (through gestures/sign language) that the ape knew she smoked, but that segment doesn’t really count as a role.
-
Emma Thompson – A lot of Shakespearean roles, none of which stand out. Again, my most vivid memory of her is a Tonight Show interview – she used the word “tits”, and it wasn’t bleeped, even though a male guest on the show had recently said the same word and had it censored.
I don’t why I should find this so much fun, but I do. Showing off my eclectic taste and prodigious memory? Trying to evangelise films I particularly like? The thrill of competition? The sometime thwarted desire to cheat?
Is this why you’re running these things?! Anyway, here we go again:
