I’ve recently developed a taste for cognac, and I’m curious to try some armagnac as well. What’s a nice bottle for a reasonable price? Of course, I wouldn’t be upset to get cognac recommendations as well.
I don’t have any personal recommendations, as I do not drink it. I do remember an article on armagnac in Delta’s “Sky” magazine from several years ago. I tried to find it, but their on-line editions don’t go that far back. It was a really interesting article, too bad.
I did, however, in my search, find this tidbit which recommends Marie Duffau Napoleon Bas Armagnac highly. (Scroll down to about the middle of the page)

The Marie Duffau is relatively cheap, so I went ahead and ordered a bottle. At least it’ll give me a reference point.

Despite the best efforts of FedEx, I finally received the bottle that I ordered almost two weeks ago. It’s really not fair that the local liquor store has 500 kinds of vodka but not one bottle of armagnac–this is some high quality liquor. Thanks for the recommendation, LiveOnAPlane.
