My strange baseball day
I've been a fan of major league baseball for about 30 years. I have never seen a no hitter, inside the park homerun, or a triple play.
Today, I was listening online to the Nationals/Cardinals game which had a no hitter into the 9th inning. Then, I put on the Rangers/A's game and what do I see? An inside the park homerun! Anyone thinking there will be a triple play today? |

Well, the no-hitter got broken up in the ninth inning. Ortiz ended up giving up two hits and one earned run, and was pulled after 8 2/3. I was pulling for him, because there hasn't been a Major League no-hitter for over two years. The last was Randy Johnson's perfect game in May 2004 for the Diamondbacks against Atlanta.
As for a triple play, Tamba Bay got one against Seattle two days ago. If you want to see it, go to this page and click on the Sept. 2 link titled "Rays turn three." Triple plays are, of course, a little more common than no-hitters, and you can usually count on three or four triple plays in a Major League season. The one on Saturday was, i think, the fourth this year. |

Does anyone know why I've been subscribed to this thread, even though I haven't posted in it or even read it for that matter?

Well, it's a couple of days later, and we now have a no-hitter for 2006.
22 year old rookie Anibal Sanchez pitched a no-hitter for the Florida Marlins against the Arizona Diamondbacks today. |

I heard about it too late. Usually, I surf around on mlb.com listening to various games.
