I give up...can someone explain hi opal to me?

I swear there used to be a place around here that explained all the inside jokes. I’d give examples, but I can’t even think of one right now.

Anyway, I searched for at least three and a half seconds before giving up…what does hi opal mean?

Hi Opal! (scroll about 3/4 of the way down)

It’s a very tired old joke that’s been misused. The namesake, OpalCat, would rather it lay still with a stake through its heart.

If you want hip, mention “penis ensues” or “18 inch double ended ice blue dildo.”

LOL

FYI, the proper way to mention that is, "18 inch double ended ice blue dildo  "

Not just any 18 inch double ended ice blue dildo though, but a double headed, 18" ice blue jelly dong, evidently quit dangerous if misued

Ahem! The correct reference is to the 18"DHIBJD   .

Let’s get it right, people!

If you google “hi opal” (with the quotes) you get the in-jokes page that Geobabe linked to. Just for future reference. Google can be really handy for when the SDMB doesn’t want to cooperate with searching.

I think that needs some updating. It refers to MPSIMS being in thread form. That was a aoloooong time ago.

Check this thread for an explanation of “Hi, Opal!” as well as many more SDMB terms and in-jokes you may want to understand (and some you probably won’t want to…)

What about “asshat”? I assume it has something to do with mod hat but can’t find its origin. But then my search skills on here aren’t the best…

Hi Opal, or did I spell that incorrectly?

Or “Baby Jesus Butt-Plug.”

Asshat is not an SDMB originated term. It’s used a lot here, but just as we didn’t coin “asshole” or “bitch” we didn’t coin “asshat” either.

Good heavens. Here I’ve been wondering for years what the “I” was for in “Double-Headed *I Baby Jesus Dildo.”

I’ve been wrong this whole time! My world is crashing down around me!

Asshat, is one of those terms that I think originated on Fark though I suspect it might come from the “Something Awful” forums since so much of the Internet originates in that ahem cess pool.

It’s just a general term for a not-so-nice person.
