Ask the Iditarodaholic...also restaraunt manger......

Hi… :dubious:… I’m Daniel, aka…tsfr…TSFR…*ThisSpaceForRent…*This Space For Rent,

I’m and Iditarodaholic , and quite frankly, I love it!!
Can’t wait for March '07 but there are races starting soon, but not soon enough for me.

Guess that’s enough…Ok!, I am also a manager…/Ex-chef/Ex-Waiter/Ex-baker/Ex-(aging) Hippie…currently assimilated into society and earning a slightly less than middle-middle class existence (dang ex- wives)…But, I have two great sons who I see a lot…one is a hockey player, the second is following in my foot prints  but he’ll be OK

Guess that was pretty long. … Oh, did I mention I am an Iditarodaholic ?

This Space For Rent…

When a waitress suspects she’s got a dine and dash customer what precautionary steps do you take?
Do you get to take food home?
Are good line cooks always temperamental?
Is it true that in Siberia huskies mush you?

What’s your philosophy on tipping?

Also, do all the dogs wear those little booties I’ve heard about?

Ever seen “Waiting”?.. Does that really happen in your experience?..

Do the dogs really run faster when they see the finish line?..

How do you keep the dogs from going at it? (I mean in the loving type way…)

So are you an Iditarod competitor or just a fanatic? If only a fan, do you attend the races or watch on tv?

Walk outs (dine and Dash) are pretty rare…where i currently work you pay BEFORE you eat.

I can take Any food i want home as long as i ring it uo to account for it…don’t a whole lot as I have worked at same place for 3+ years and we do not change menues that much.

When I was a Line cook/ Chef I was an SOB…MOST good line cooks are …

I am NOT a musher…I am a race fanatic (Iditarodaholic) Firstly, Only one Musher that I know of, Karen Ramstead, runs purebread Siberians My personal experience With Siberian Huskies (had one) is yes…they run and run and run.

Most musher used mixed breed huskies with distinguished blood lines.

Did you know Jim Brown?

When I was a waitroid we had a slogan, tipping is not just a town in China…but seriously, I am a great tipper as i do know what waiters/waitresses go through. I worked in a very exclusive restaraunt in Clayton MO where I could make from 150 to 250++ bucks a night.

Yes, All dogs in the Iditarod wear booties…to protect their footsies.

Never saw Waiting …clue me in, a movie?

The dog run faster when they wanna…yes I do believe some vetrans know where they are going but for the most part they follow the leader. I have heard of dog teams simply “shutting down” and refusing to run.

Some mushers use a drug that prevents females from coming into heat. But yes, for those that for go this a bitch coming into heat can be a minor problem but these dogs are VERY highly trained and the Musher IS the alpha dog.

I am NOT a musher, I am a fan, ummm lets be honest, a fanatic. I follow the race by internet, web cameras, a bit of TV (not much real coverage) and Mostly through This forum with other Iditarodaholics from around the world.

I know several men named Jim Brown. which one are you reffering to?

This Jim Brown.

Are you hiring?

Martin Buser is one of my favorites, along with Dede Jonrow. My all time favorite was Susan Butcher. We get hourly coverage on the local stations here when the race is on, and someday I want to be in Anchorage for the start of the race, and in Nome for the finish.

Sweetness, we are ALWAYS hiring  right now I am strugeling to train a batch of new hires as we lost a lot of seasoned veterans to college…

Come on up girl, I’ll put ya to work…

I know of him, like most of the I’rod veterans… thanks for the link. Are you an Iditarodaholic too?

I’ll be in Achorage in 2010 for the start…and with luck and good fiscal planing I will travel up to Nome to see the winner cross the Burled Arch…a 50th birthday present to myself  (I’ll be 50 in Feb of 2010)

Oh Susan Butcher…you will be so deeply missed… :frowning:

Hey Kaiwik, I work with a lady from Kodiak Island…small world…

Not exactly. He’s my wife’s great uncle and we enjoyed living vicariously through him. He was quite a character.

That happened to Dee Dee Jonrowe a few years ago. The dogs just quit on her in the middle of nowhere. Scared the crap out of her because she didn’t know what had spooked them. She scratched that year.

ChefDude good to se you in this thread…

Yes DeeDee’s pups did shut down a few years back, so did several teams this past year, shit happens…rin them too long or too fast and they all will…just like thier human counterparts.

So…dinner in Anchorage in March of 2010?..
