WordMan is a rocker

My wife and I spent last weekend in the New York area. The highlight of our trip was the couple of hours we spent listening to WordMan’s Mid-life Crisis Rock BandTM WordMan. It’s a cover band with a great, fun song list, heavy on the 80s. Everyone in the band can play, the drummer and bass player are particularly awesome, and WordMan absolutely rocks on guitar. He played some pretty good leads, but what really impressed me was the way he propelled the whole band with his powerful rhythm playing and perfect tone. He also let me play his beautiful Les Paul.

This was my first in person meeting with a Doper, and it was a pleasure. I’m waiting for my wife to email a pic of WordMan and me. I’ll post a link to it if WordMan says it’s OK.

I’d would have expected heavy on the Ramones

So what did they play?

This comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone who’s spent any time reading him here on the boards or, if your lucky enough, offline. The guy not only knows his stuff, he’s also so dang good about sharing it in a manner that most benefits the listener and not his own ego.

I’ve tremendous respect for him and, Crotalus, as you well know, am extremely jealous at your opportunity to see him live.

Rock on, Wordman! Any chance some of this will be on YouTube?

Ramones, B-52s, U2, Modern English, Billy Idol, Psychedelic Furs, Cars, Rolling Stones, T. Rex, Smash Mouth, Pat Benetar…

Aww - you da’ best Crotalus! Feel free to post a link. And thanks for everybody’s kind words - I really appreciate it.

It was fun - and it was my first time meeting a Doper IRL and you and your wife were so cool!

lieu - we certainly won’t be on Youtube, but my band does have a Myspace page here - where you can hear a few of the covers we do…

Sorry this took so long. I promised a pic, and here it is. That’s me on the right, and WordMan on the left.
