Seriously, what's the fucking deal, cherished guests?

In GD there must be at least four (ReggieB and Harri would have us think they're agnostics, and johnny M has been well-pitted elsewhere) dimwitted attempts at religious apologetic trolling active in the last 24 hours alone, dressed up in ham-fisted rhetorical fashion to look like the OP is interested in asking a question for the purpose of giving serious thought to the answer. Interestingly, they're all quite littered with spelling and grammatical errors that make me look like I have photographic memory of the OED and The Elements of Style. It's like all the village idiots formed a union, and the first order of business was to invade any forum with a surplus of functioning minds employed at least on occasion in a skeptical manner.

What gives? What's going on out there? Who put you guys up to this? Seems to me there's too many of you with such ideosyncratically crap posts for it all to be easily dismissed as an odd coincidence. Is this some short bus cult or something? Is it some kind of Missionary Special Ed. program? I'm fascinated, and simply must know. C'mon, fess up: Who's your leader? What did he promise you in return for all this? You can tell us, we won't snitch!

Mild venom, but it has some humor and the targets are deserving. Two point deduction for failure to use at least one "fuckwit". 6/10, but shows potential.

No, don't. He's lying, he's the worst snitch around. Tell him and within minutes everyone from here to Penascola will know about it.

Private sources tell me that is the SDMB.

As for the deluge of guests...how can you not enjoy it? They add some fleeting life to this dying board. It's grand comedy.

Well, arguably a grievous oversight, but I thought perhaps plainer expression would discourage disclosure of information related to the putative cult.

Not gonna name it, think that is frowned upon. It's a site bashing board full of Doper rejects bitching about this place.

As for the origins of our guests, I don't think they're from the place which may not be named. They haven't talked about it and these guests are rather bad if they're meant to be trolls...and I thought someone here recognized one of the guests from some fundy board.

You can be sure it's from there though if a troll ever brings up these subjects as their first post:
1. circumcision
2. being fat
3. woman sperm
4. being fat and socially awkward
5. killing/abusing cats

That, or maybe the dismay of cognitive dissonance and electoral repudiation has finally driven the roaches into the light, so to speak? They're just scurrying about for a home and on the surface it looks like a directed swarm? Sort of like when the ant-hive gets flooded and the drones scuttle aimlessly looking for a new queen? If your hut is in the path of the hoard, you might feel singled-out by misfortune for a time. I dunno. The dunce cult is attractive, but less plausible, perhaps. Never attribute to conspiracy what can be explained by stupidity, etc. And there's plenty of the latter to go around, surely.

And I'll express thanks also for the woman sperm pointer. Ye gads!

This explains a lot. It reminds me a bit of that old show UFO, where sometime during the show a saucer would fly in, get its ass handed to it, and it would fly out. Actually makes me feel a bit better that there is a whole board of fuckwits not good enough to hack it here.

I've never seen such a pathetic claim to a sense of superiority. Kudos on being "good enough" to "hack it" on the Straight Dope.

As for the rash of religio-trolls being from the snarkpit or snarkcentral, I doubt it. It's mainly populated with MPSIMSers nowadays who just want to use bad words and do so anonymously so as not to besmirch their squeaky clean Doper reputation.

Are you saying that the standards for "making it" here are low? If so, then why the rolleyes? If making it here is nothing special, what does that say about those who have washed out?

If you want to talk about pathetic claims of superiority, look no further than a snark board dedicated to talking anonymously about another board...

Not to mention constantly predicting the demise of the Dope. Funny, innit, how each snark site goes belly up sooner or later, while the SDMB keeps rolling right along. So much for the predictive powers of the Nostranonymous, eh?

Yeah, I'm saying the standards are low. The only requirement is 15 dollars and not acting like a jerk, as decided by a random collection of interweb dweebs. I think the rolleyes are spot on.

Since what they are is precisely what we were already talking about, it would be pretty lame to ask what they are. But feel free, if you think you're "good enough" to "hack it".

ETF, people predict the demise of the Dope ON THE DOPE. Yet they can't hack it on the Dope! What a paradox!

Carnalk over the last year I have seen the place that we cannot talk about go from mostly dumb and fairly hateful to incredibly dumb and very hateful. You are always in the Greek chorus complaining about the SDMB and many of the posters here. So why do you continue to subject yourself to both the SDMB and the other places?

You do not appear to be a bad guy or dumb, but I do not get what you get out of either place. Why do you subject yourself to so much you do not like?

Before you make any claims that I am part of that crowd that you describe, the mod there has been checking IPs and knows ( and I am sure does not care) that I have never posted anything in that place that I would not post here.

The Snrk Pit is dead. It consists of absolutely nothing material, relevant, or even interesting. It has out-meta'ed its own ironic existence, and now is imploding under the weight of brainless retards attempting to be the first to call the OP of any given snark post scatological names. It has truly devolved to the level of two toddlers in a sandbox flinging the contents of their diapers at each other, people standing nearby, and themselves.

And they have the stones to say SDMB is dying. Hubris writ large. The SDMB has already outlived the Snark Pit.

One other thing: I truly believe that, at one time, the Snark Pit raised issues that had the potential to damage the SDMB (thus, the admin-imposed "hush rule" over here.) However, that time is long past. It's little more than a comedic footnote now.

Your point, ETF, was that they predict the death of the dope yet anon places close left and right? Since the whole setup and administration(for lack of a better word, lol) of those places is so different I don't think they're comparable enough to call "irony" on them. YMMV.

My other point is that it is populated by many current BBQ Pit and MPSIMS denizens, as well as some skinflints and bannees. It's simply a goofy little adjunct, like the SDMB LJ.

What Exit, I'm am not always in the Greek chorus, that's just perhaps where you've noticed me most. The other place I don't post at much anymore. Here, I've been trying to get back into it and there are definitely some fun threads I've read. Unfortunately, there's often ample opportunity here for me to engage in my little online vice - poking pomposity. Sometimes I can't help myself.

Thanks for being such a snippy little prick. Two things: 1) we're NOT talking about it, we're talking around it, so my question was aimed at cutting to the matter and clarifying what had merely been hinted at; 2) could you please point our where I've ever said or implied that the SDMB was some sort of intellectual elite or somehow superior to other message boards? Your bitchy little quotation marks suggest that such is my attitude; with comments like yours quoted above, it's obvious that I could never think such things.

Yeah, sorry about that Manatee*. There was no reason for me to be snippy with you. I was in a combative mood; the quote-marked "hacking it" and "good enough" were more of a side swipe at Voyager than you. Sorry again.

As for the hints, the places I mentioned are what in the first few posts Loopydude, Oakminster and later Voyager were talking about . I'm afraid links are quite verboten so you'll have to Google the first name you asked me about +sdmb. Or I could email you a link.

And on the subject of apologies and snark, I'll take this opportunity to give a long overdue public apology to CarnalK for my major overreaction/meltdown directed at him some while back. It was not warranted by him personally but he caught it only because he is one of the few snarkers with the cajones to use the same name both places, and for that I must respect him.

Major and sincere apologies, CarnalK.

Sampiro, well done. Apologies are good even served cold.

CarnalK, thank you for explaining. I guess I only see you in the threads complaining about the mods and I overlook your other contributions. I am also well aware of your homepage. This is kind of funny. I found the place finally, and am posting to this thread after following the link to it from the very site We (apparently) Dare Not Mention. I can't say I'm that impressed, at least after a cursory inspection. Folks make it out to be a lot more noxious than it's really capable of being, I think.

Hard to tell if folks who frequent it are in any way responsible for the rash of idiot faith-based trolling here, though. Plese don't mistake this as praise of any kind, but the trolls I cited appear to have less of a command of human thought than the average participants over there.

Oh well. Things are not nearly as interesting as I'd hoped they might be. Shit means shit, as they say.

Yes Loopydude, there is little reason to be impressed but how many deadjournal or livejournals do? A few people here really wound themselves up to the point that they acted like the place was an evil government in waiting (I would cite Liberaltarian but that would be unseemly).

FYI Manatee, if you are poking around at the site you finally Googled: the last link in the link list there is dead, the middle to the previous incarnation and the first to my archival site.

I wasn't aware of "deadjournal" before this, so I went in with a rather different set of expectations than were warrented, obviously. I'm not a big reader of "journals" of any kind on teh interwebs, I'm afraid.
