WoooOOOooo (or, painkillers are the best kind of fun)

So, y'all remember this thread?

Well, today was the surgery. And it was terrifying--shocking, bewildering, traumatizing. Absolutely horrible in every way.

I kid, of course. It was awesome.

My stomach was feeling like a lump of Playdoh being pummeled by a hyperactive kid while I sat in the office, and I admit it, I actually did have a moment of teary-eyed whimpering freaking out in the chair.

And the nurses held my hand and soothed me, and we all three chatted about work and school as the drugs went through the IV--it was a butterfly needle, so it barely hurt. I just remember feeling very very drowsy and relaxed, very peaceful. And the doctor came in and smiled, and fiddled with the IV, and the next thing I remember is being helped into the recovery room chair.

I'm still a little dizzy, but in the fun loopy way, and the painkillers are kicking in about now. My cheeks do feel a little sore, but I've got an ice pack ready for that, and the gauze is a pain in the butt.

But I remember sitting up the whole night with my stomach in knots, reading the thread I linked to, twisting my hands in my shirt and pacing. And you have no idea how relieved I feel right now.

Life is really good.

Hey! Glad it all went well. Here's hoping two things:
1. If you ever need to undergo anything like this again, you'll know that, while serious, it isn't the end of the world. And
2. That you should never, ever need this knowledge!

I think you're doing that part wrong.

Glad to hear it went smoothly. I was awake for the extraction of mine -- nothing but novocaine from my dentist. Enjoy the pain meds!

A sedagive?!?!

I'm glad it went well!

Your thread title reminded me of one summer in high school when I had really bad ear infections (swimmer's ear). They would not go away for the longest and at one point they gave me cough medicine with codeine. Then it didn't bother me at all if they stuck around forever. Ahh!
