I actually joined on my birthday June 26th, 2000. My first reply to a post was on July 4th,2000. My first new post was July 12th, 2000.
Joined June 6, replying to Gatsby’s thread about seti@home. So while everyone back a few months ago was rushing to say they joined because of Wally, I got to sit in the corner quietly whispering “I didn’t even know about Wally, really, until after he died.”

Of course, that is my SDMB birthday for this web-based board. I was on the AOL version of the board for a couple of years before that, so my actual SDMB birthday is sometime in 1997 (can’t remember what time of the year it was, but I’m pretty sure it was 1997)
I’ll chime in with Shadowfox to say that my SDMB birthday would be pretty old, considering I’m an AOL veteran also. I appeared on that board roughly around March of 1997 or so, but I could be wrong. My web SDMB birthday is April 6, 1999, so I’m a fogey, I guess.
