Let’s go over some facts here. The settlement was for several million. The ‘stupid teenager’ was five years old. The pool company KNEW that the drains were deadly. All of this was posted in another thread you replied to, and you never apologized for these words. You are a dipshit.

Seriously, how goddamn evil do you have to be to use a horribly maimed 5 year old as a political weapon? I couldn’t care less what you say about Edwards, lawyers, politicians, or the country’s legal state. But when you start outright lying and mispresenting cases, turning a 5 year old’s pain into a weapon, then you deserve a good reaming. This girl is going to have to spend her entire life on feeding tubes, hooked up to them for 12 hours every day, because of something that the pool company could have prevented had they given a damn. But do you care? No. You outright misrepresent facts, and say that you don’t care to hear corrections. I won’t correct you, then. But I will let you know that you are one of the most horribly cruel, heartless people I have ever seen post on this board. So to you, DSeid, I’d like to say - FUCK YOU!

You are talking about Lakey v. Sta-Rite Industries, and DSeid is talking about Morgan v. Southeast Jurisdictional Admin. Council, Inc.

Let’s go over some facts here, too. You’re talking about two different cases. DSeid was NOT talking about the 5-year-old girl’s case, he was referring to THIS one:

I don’t know to what extent this alters your ire or your opinion of DSeid, but at least get your facts straight before lambasting someone.

I’ll take back my words, but I still feel that DSeid was entirely too harsh. HOWEVER - I still feel that he, likewise, was too harsh. This was still a young girl, who’s badly injured. It seems grossly unfair to portray her as stupid for what happened. Could she be? Of course. But for all we know, it could have been a sill ymistake, that she suffers from.

BTW, I do not dispute it was a tragedy for a teen to dive in a shallow end and become paralyzed. I too was a stupid teenager and as a father I live in fear of my kids being one fraction as stupid as I was. It really is merely by good luck that I didn’t kill myself when I was that age and several more beyond. (You’ll not see me discussing my early giftedness in that gifted ed thread! :)) But I really couldn’t imagine collecting money from someone else for their failure in preventing my acting on my idiocy.

This will not do. You are being entirely too reasonable here. Don’t you realize the correct protocol for being caught out in a mistake in a Pit tread is to dig your heels in and insist you’re right, DSeid and everyone else is wrong, and then blame the (your choice:liberals/conservatives/neo-cons/Unitarians/one-eyed, left-handed, black, lesbian, Muslims who dip snuff).

Second thought: I wonder if that’s where Chuck Palahniuk got the idea for his short story “Guts” (which I to this day have not finished reading because it’s the only thing that’s ever been able to bring me (a lover of gory horror fiction) close enough to losing my cookies that I don’t want to risk it).

Honestly, now that I look at the issue again, I’m inclined to agree more with your assessment of the sitatuion. I apologize again - I feel really, really stupid right now, and thanks for understanding.

We generally don’t close Pit threads to bail out an OP from the consequences of an ill-considered Pitting. In this case, since you retracted your OP and DSeid doesn’t seem interested in yelling at you for pitting him, I think closing it is fine.
