So, what's the most interesting thing you've done lately?

Wondering how best to use some spare time…

Whatcha been up to?

M

Me? I started a thread in MPSIMS . . .

I joined the SDMB! This morning! Woot!

And you’ve already posted 12 times!

You go grl!

Silversmithing and blacksmithing. The silversmithing continuously since late last year, the blacksmithing just once. I recommend silversmithing if you want to fidget with tiny stuff and the blacksmithing if you want to stick your bare hands next to very hot metal and coal and hammer stuff really hard. It rocked. They will both cheerfully eat any spare time you have.

Singing in the choir for a performance of Rossini’s Stabat Mater. And I’ve got another one in about five hours’ time.

Drove Interstate 80.

One end to the other.

By myself.

Without playing one CD. I listened to the radio the WHOLE way.

Produced one hour of a two-hour documentary on composer and pianist Ernst von Dohnanyi. I remastered tapes from as far back as 1953, which have never been heard by the public. It may be coming to a classical NPR affiliate near you, the end of July, or early August.

I passed out drunk one night last week, and woke up next to a midget. It’s an interesting story, really.

Last month I started a second job as an online reference librarian. I work from home, usually from 8 PM to midnight, and just answer people’s random reference questions via online chat software on our website. I’m learning a lot about every subject imaginable, helping empower people with information, solve mysteries, and fight ignorance, and becoming The Man Who Knows How To Find Things, which I always aspired to be.

That is awesome! I wish I had a job like that. Ever since Google Answers went kaput, I’ve felt like a fish out of water.

Built a dual-boot Solaris/Red Hat server just for the hell of it.

Did some kite flying - trying to figure out fighter-kite techniques.

Wandered about the local canyons with my camera, took a picture of a quail, and painted an oil painting of it.

Created 3D Graphics versions of comic strip characters, whom I had originally created over ten years ago. It’s something I have wanted to do for a very long time, and they have turned out a lot better than I had hoped! I plan to animate them too.

Competed in a Tae Kwon Do tournament.

So looks like I’m the only one lying around watching TV then…

Damn you people are interesting

All musical events:

Konono-1 at World Cafe
Orchestra with Gamelan accompaniment at Trinity Center
Pete Brotzmann at Cultural Education Center

Coffee shops, etc, around Phllly are full of postcard flyers for various arts events, and there are e-mail lists from Funsavers and Ars Nova Workshop that provide discount admissions.

Straight through the middle of Pennsyltucky?!

Hard core, dude!

This really is MPSIMS, not Cafe Society. BACI, please review the forum descriptions so you’ll do better next one. No biggie, don’t sweat it, but you get better responses in the right forums.

My most interesting thing lately was three weeks in Japan.

Learning to use POV-Ray
