Woot, readmitted

So the fall of 2005 was my last semester at UIUC, they didn't care too much for me not going to hardly any of my classes. Since then I've gotten myself together a bit, strung together a couple semesters of 3.5+ GPAs at different schools. Today I got my letter saying that I've been readmitted for the upcoming semester. Whew.

Now I just need to register and find a place to live. If all goes well I can graduate in the spring, although that'd be with two 18 hour semesters in a row, including a third level German course which I'm not in practice with. In any case, I'm back in the best school in the country for my major, today's a good day.

Good job. Here's hoping your new level of maturity doesn't fade away.

Like the song or wise man or wherever it came from said, sometimes you don't know what you got till it's gone.

Good luck, knows to the grindstone and all that.

Congratulations, as a former slacker myself I'm glad to see you didn't give up!

I just registered for a couple of college classes today myself, after a 12 year hiatus, so I wish luck to both of us!

Make sure to make plenty use of "Woot" in your research papers.

Congratulations! I am entering my final year this fall after a temporary departure (forced leave) as well. Good luck with everything! I would recommend several alarm clocks and maybe a pet that bites you when you are still in the house and should be on the way to class.

Woot!

I had a hard time making it to class myself. Did it only because my school takes attendance.

Best of luck!

Congratulations and good luck!

I must be the only person that doesn't know what UIUC stands for? Could I get a translation please?

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Out of curiosity, what's the OP's major?

Is UIUC generally considered the best school in the country? I'm not an American, so I have no dog in this, and it's not meant to be a snark, but I've barely heard of the place. I'd have thought it would be Harvard or Stanford or MIT or something.

Best civil engineering school. Harvard's generally considered the best overall school.

UIUC is very very highly ranked for the sciences, especially engineering. It goes right up there with MIT, Caltech, Stanford for different types of engineering. It has a number of decent graduate programs, as well.

I think it's a decent public school, overall. It's certainly not unknown by any means.

I had to have my daughter translate, and I live in the state. Only I'm not used to specifying that one. It's U of I, the one in Chicago is UIC.

ETA: Congratulations to the OP on hard work and growing up.
