cuckoo clock mechanics.

I have just come into possession of a cuckoo clock. Getting this thing is threatening to ruin my life. I finally got the chains untangled, and got it up on the wall. Mrs. Seenidog would have happily strangled me with said chains, but I prevailed. Any clock mechanics out there? It seems to keep good time, but it is a little out of sync with the rest of the world. Easy enough to move the hands to be right, but the mechanism that makes it go cuckoo is still way off. This thing has a door on each side, in which I can see nothing adjustable. and a door on the back which has a round spring I assume is for sound as if you hit it with your finger it makes a lovely ring. But the clock never does that. There is a little wire with a ring on it hanging out the bottom of the box. If you pull it the bird comes out.

Any guesses?

The next time it cuckoos twelve times, stop the pendulum, then start it swinging again at exactly noon.

Thanks, but not quite there.

Thanks for the hint. That will work for sure, and I will use the next cuokoo cluck to do it. But that still leaves me wondering why the spring on the rear door is never hit, and why this is such a complicated mechanism. I want to understand it. I have given up on understanding Mrs. Seenidog, I figure a got half a rat's ass chance at getting the cuckoo clock right. (all due respect to Mrs. Seenidog , and the rat)
