I Pit stomach flu (TMI)

Lessee now: vomiting bile? check. Diarrhea? check. Unable to keep even water down? check. Yep, looks like stomach flu to me.

Oh the Joy! A whole night of fitfull catnaps between races to the toilet (Willie Makit?), and then having to prioritize which end gets held over the toilet first. Not daring even to lie down much of the time. Losing a gallon of fluid in the course of a night and having no way to replace it. Forfeiting a day's pay since I'm a temp with no sick days. An entire day wasted in miserable semi-conciousness. Eight changes of underwear. Shaking and weak with hunger and trying to get by on instant cocoa.

Fortunately this seems to be the 24-hour kind ,so I'm back up to soda crackers. Hopefully I'll be recovered by tomorrow, but this literally blows chunks.

Lumpy, sorry you're sick, it sounds sucky.

But I hate when anyone says or writes "stomach flu", it just bugs me. The "flu" or influenza, is a respiratory illness. What the OP describes does not sound like influenza at all but some sort of GI ailment. Or maybe a bad piece of chicken at lunch?

Yeah- sucks to be you but it's not the flu. Virus or food poisoning most likely. Hope you feel better soon.

Vomitting _and_ diarrhea? Damn. Bad enough when it's just one of them.

I didn't know what else to call it; "the ailment colloquially known as 'stomach flu'"?

Well if it's not food poisoning then you could just call it what it most likely is, a stomach virus. Or you could just say , "I've got a nasty ass stomach bug"

Gotta love the SDMB... Hey, I know you're completely miserable, barfing every three minutes into the porcelain throne, but could you take a minute to be nitpicked on what it actually is that you've got? Heh.

Feel better, Lumpy

Sorry you're feeling wretched, Lumpy.

But, with that said, I'm confused. Is this thread any less of a pity party than the one that got closed for being a pity party?

It seems to be going around. I had it last week, friend and her fiance had it about the same time.. and now that we plan to go out for the evening, most of the people invited have it too or are just getting over it.

And yet most of us don't hang out all that often so we all got it from different places.

Hope you feel better.
