Scattagories.

This is game I absolutely love to play. Unfortunately, I’m rarely in a group big enough in which it’s actually fun to play, so most of the rounds I play tend to be with two other people, my mom and my brother. Still, the most I’ve ever played this game with was about nine…and I’ll never forget how fun it was.

So after about fifteen minutes of thinking about it right now, I figured, why not try it out online on here? It’d be similar to the Family Feud rules.

And so, here it is for anyone who wishes to play.

Rules.

  1. DO NOT read any posts after this post. That will be cheating. Read just this OP and quote it and fill your answers out.

How to Play

  1. It’s very easy. There are 12 categories (below) and three letters (also below). You will fill out each category three times, using each letter once. For example, if the category is “Fruits” and the letter is “C”, you can put “Cherry” down.
  2. The word “the” does NOT count. For example, if the letter is “M” and the category is “TV Shows on Disney”, you may use “The Mickey Mouse Club”. You cannot use “The Mickey Mouse Club” if the letter is “T”.

Please put it in this fashion:

“First letter”

1-12s answers

“Second letter”

1-12s answers

etc
At the end of 24 hours, I’ll tally up the points. Everyone will get one point for an original answer. However, if you match up on any answer with anyone else in this topic, neither of you get any points. You get extra points (1 each) for every word you have in your answer that begins with the letter (example: If the letter is “F” and the category is “Cartoon characters”, “Fred Flintstone” would be worth 2 points–however points are NOT given just for extra adjectives for point building).

Whoever has the most points at the end of 24 hours wins and can create the next 12 categories and pick the next three letters (if they wish, if not, that’s fine but I’m not going to host this again).
The categories for this time are:

  1. Things you throw away
  2. Vegetables
  3. Common female names (first only)
  4. Doper names
  5. Animals you’d see in a zoo
  6. Diseases
  7. Alcoholic drinks
  8. Types of money
  9. Trees
  10. Body parts (inside or out)
  11. Video game titles
  12. Game shows
The three letters (picked randomly from random.org) are D, H, and W

At 9pm tomorrow, MST, no more replies will be accepted and I will start tallying up the point totals.

Okay, times up. Players please compare your answers with others and cross out any that you find on other’s lists as you go along.

I WAS going to do this myself but after a whole hour I’m only three replies down. :stuck_out_tongue:
So what I did, instead, is judged answers.

So therefore, no points are scored for any of the following:
Answers that you have in common with anyone else (even if it’s basically the same thing but worded different)

These specific answers :p: Del Monte is a brand of products, not an actual vegetable itself.

1920 Style Death Ray doesn’t begin with the letter D. If anything, it would be N.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was a game show? :dubious:

And lastly, other odds and ends: Webbed feet and Webbed toes was given twice, but for two different categories on different people’s lists so it’s fine.

I have decided the DKC 2, DKC, and DK are all separate and completely different video games, so they count.

Willows are different from Weeping Willows, so I’d count that one.

Everything else is accepted as long as nobody else has it down.

You get one point for each one you have left and remember to give two points if you have the letter used twice for different words in the same answer.

Total your score up from all three lists and post the number.

Edited because I hit the submit button way too soon.

I came up with a score of 17 points for myself. ZipperJJ proved absolutely fatal for my score. I’m also very surprised that so many people answered daikon for a vegetable that started with D.
