Now I’m pretty much as atheist as it gets around here. But even I see this as offensive trolling. This topic could be presented in a much less provocative manner. The only reason for the final “Why do you choose…” paragraph is to stir up shit.
I usually think to myself “What a troll” when I read Two and a Half Inches of Fun’s thread titles. I cannot in good conscience sit idly by any longer. There is no call to fling this diaper-load of a thread at the Catholics here. He/she/it is a fucking troll and deserves is swift whack with the banning stick.
He keeps thinking he’s found the perfect “gotcha” thread that will finally expose the rank hypocrisy around him. If only others could see the world as he does…
Instead of starting this BS thread, you could have participated in the discussion in the other thread. It is ironic that the person who does not want to participate in a rational discussion is calling me the troll.
Actually, I’m rather impressed by the fact that the OP has been here so long, with (relatively) few posts and they’re using it on you. Kudos to PC, 2.5 is an annoying little shit.
Oh, and btw: the thing about trolls is they don’t go away until you stop feeding them. I’ve come close to posting in some of those stupid threads recently, until I saw who the OP was.
I have no Troll Chow for you. I will not feed you the scraps for which you beg. That thread, like most of yours, is worthy only of derision. And to be clear, I’m not making any judgment here on the story behind the OP. It is the the OP itself, your presentation of it that I find contemptible.
But your thread isn’t about whether or not you are a troll. To post what the OP posted here in your thread would be a hijack at best and possibly considered threadshitting. If it weren’t for the fact that it is considered appropriate to let a poster know that they’ve been pitted, the PC apeman probably would not have posted in your thread at all. A place for everything and everything in its place, as they say. And review the meaning of irony please.
I think that Blushing Battleaxe, with her glurge e-mail/urban legend forwards directly copied and presented as her original posts, is a far greater problem.
just checked their profile - they’ve started 134 threads, and have about 500 posts, which, I think is a rather high percentage of thread starts vs. participation (in any threads). I think that does, indeed, support the theory of shit stirring troll. IMHO and all.
I have probably rolled my eyes :rolleyes: at more OPs by Mr. Two and a Half Inches of Fun, Four and a Half Inches of Trolling, and Eleven and Seven-Eighths Inches of Sheer Nitwittery than by anyone else, but it does my heart good to see how threads like the one linked to prove that the Dopers are more than capable of responding appropriately.
Having read the posted thread, I can’t really fault him all that much. The Roman Catholic Church does have an awful lot to answer for, and saying, “well, ancient history”, while normally a reasonable response, doesn’t work well in this case.
Why? Because the Church’s teachings go back 2,000 years. If you geniunely believe in the sum total of modern Catholic dogma, there’s nothing stopping you from going out and starting the Reform Catholic Church of Christ, or whatever, and observing modern Catholic principles while denouncing historic Catholic evils.
If it doesn’t bother you that your Church honors those who denounced Jews, or whatever, then you have no right to call out 2 1/2" o’ Fun; he’s absolutely right, in that case.
If it does, then maybe you should be doing more to address your concerns.

My hero - I myself have been wondering what happened to the old Battleaxe- “she” hasn’t posted in weeks- has she gone on to that great retirement castle in the sky, where the Starbucks is free and ever-flowing, and Johnny Weismuller is there to make sweet love to her like Sam never could?
Oh and 2.5 posted pretty much the same thread a few weeks back but due to the misleading title got too few pissed off responses so he retitled and fine tuned it.
So simply wording a question more provocatively than you would word it is trolling? That’s a pretty weak definition of trolling. I thought the word meant posting something one did not actually believe to provoke a reaction. Now simple word choice is enough to gain troll status.
Ah, and of course the inevitable “shit stirring” accusation. Some people here must need a stool hardener or something, their shit is stirred so easily. Put him on your ignore list if he mixes your feces so unpleasantly.
