Candy that makes you say "Yum!"

Okay, we've had "meh" and "bleh". I want to see what everybody's favorite candy is.

HOWEVER, you may only post only one candy. Choose wisely!

Of the ones that I can come up with right now, I myself choose Terry's Chocolate Orange. I love chocolate. I love orange. These things together lead to a little ball of heaven that I could eat one right after another*.

*Stomach and diet may disagree, however.

Cadbury Creme Eggs! Normally, my taste buds don't like chocolate, even though the rest of me does. But Cadbury's chocolate wrapped around some white and yellow sugar goo will make my tongue do the happy dance every time.

It's probably good that they aren't available here year around.

There used to be these chocolates called "Ice Cubes" that they used to sell at my local liquor store. They melted almost the second you took the wrapper off, but boy, they were delicious. I wonder if they still sell them.

I remember those. I only saw them sold in liquor stores too. Weren't they solid chocolate?

Getting back on topic, I pick Cadbury Mini-Eggs (both dark and milk chocolate).

One of my few candy weaknesses is gummis. I don't care what shape they take or what flavor they have, I want them. I don't even like chocolate but gummi _______s always get me.

Just one!? You're incredibly cruel. I won't break your rules, nor try to sideskirt them by mentioning the candy I'm not picking. Heath bars. Oh yeah...my favorite for over 40 years now...the cruncy toffee that gets stuck in my molars, surrounded by just the right amount of chocolate. Mmmm, Heath bars....

Ice Cubes. If I can only have one more piece of candy in my lifetime, I'd pick this. Even though I prefer dark chocolate, and Trader Joe's Unique Origins is the candy I carry around in my purse, I can't resist an Ice Cube. When my daughter wants to bribe me...it's with an Ice Cube. The little convenience store in our mall used to keep them in the refrigerated case because they melt so easiliy, and that made them even better. but they haven't carried them for a while...because of the melting, the woman behind the counter says....she's probably keeping them in the back room and eating them all herself....

I'm going to have to try these ice cubes now. I've always seen them at the nearby 7-11, but didn't know if they were anything special. Apparently they are!

Anything with peanut butter. In fact, if all the chocolate in the world were replaced with peanut butter, I would be good.

Ice Cubes are still available, but they are hard to find.
I vote for two Italian chocolates:
Pocket Coffee (a little Googling will show it has quite the cult following), and
Perugina Nero - the first time I had it was in October, and I've spent the last 6 months fruitlessly trying to find it in the US.

Both are addictingly delicious.

Another vote for any chocolate/peanut butter combo. For whatever reason, the Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs seem to taste better to me than the regular peanut butter cups.

Ice Cubes hard to find? That's a new one. I see the li'l critters everywhere. Not that I want them. Seriously, I don't want them. For me:

Wintergreen Life Savers®

Crunch them en masse, feel the wasabi-like fumes permeating your sinuses, think of the dental work you are ruining...

Seconded! I've still got about a dozen stockpiled at this point, and have been rationing myself to around one egg in the morning, two out of every three days.

Jelly Belly Sour Jelly Beans...I limit them to long road trips. I can eat an insane amount of them and if I let myself eat them whenever those four calories per bean would add up quickly. They are the only candy I can eat a lot of without quickly becoming ill.

Gummi bears, preferably the German Herbig-Haro product than a knockoff -- the orginal has a slightly firmer texture. Anything gummi, really.

[hijack]

Life Savers came out with Gummi Savers. Why doesn't Jelly Belly come out with a line of Gummi Bellys? The concept of an any-conceivable-flavor-you-want-in-the-same-box candy is brilliant -- but they're still jelly beans. Not the most enjoyable candy to eat. Waxy, gritty texture, sticks to the teeth. But if that box contained dozens of little flavor-packed gummi blobs the exact same size and shape -- aaaahhhh!

Raisinets. Definitely Raisinets.

Strangely, though, I don't really like raisins in any other context. And I don't usually eat chocolate by itself. But somehow, raisins + chocolate = win.

Another weird thing is that I seem to prefer the Nestle brand over all others. I tried some milk chocolate-covered raisins from Trader Joe's recently, and while they were okay, the chocolate was slightly bitter and hard. Perfect Raisinets should be sufficiently sweet, chewy, and soft right out of the box. Mmmmmm

Ooh, and I had to come in for a second. I know, I know, limit it to one the OP says--but in my world, this is an entirely different kind of candy. See, there's chocolate candy, where Reese's reigns supreme, and there's "other." Hot Tamales--especially the extra hot ones--top that category for me.

And Ice Cubes used to be very common here in Colorado, then overnight..gone. They still might be here, but I don't know where. But..damn, what intense yumminess!

Since someone else mentioned Life Savers, I'm wondering if my Dark Chocolate Peppermint Altoids exist as "candy", but surely not. See, I'm a theist, and I don't believe in a God who would be so cruel as to force me to label "breath mints" as "candy". No, Altoids are in the "breath mints" category, not candy, in spite of the fact they are chocolate covered.

So, I don't have to throw over my wonderful Altoids to choose: Goldberg's Peanut Chews. Not the heretic milk chocolate covered ones that have made a showing as of late. Oh, no. The dark-chocolate-covered-peanuts-and-stuff-that-is-guaranteed-to-pull-the-fillings-out-of-your-teeth
loveliness that is Goldberg's Original Peanut Chews.

Yep, that's the One.

Hm. I work in the same complex as a factory that sells Ice Cubes bulk in the candy story. I had no freaking clue they were rare. I get them with a 20% discount.

Oh. And Cherry Blossoms.

Huh, I've never seen these.

My favorite is candy corn. Pure sugar with just a hint of buttery flavor. I only let myself get them around Halloween, when it's easier to find a fresh bag.

Does home-made stuff count? My mom used to, on occasion, make these crispy peanut-butter balls covered in chocolate she called 'buckeyes'. Oh man. They'd be gone in 24 hours, no matter how many she made. Num!

Trader Joe's chocolate covered cherries, the big honkin' maroon ones that can also be bought as part of a chocolate covered dried fruit variety package (but don't...the cherries are the best). I mention this because they also sell a smaller type of chocolate covered cherry that isn't as good.

Peanut Patties. If you've never heard of them, they're kinda like peanut brittle except they're pink and soft rather than brown and hard. I think they're native to Texas, since the only time I saw them since the eighties was in the Houston airport. My grandfather would also pick them up when he went to South Texas every year when I was young. Are they even sold outside Texas?
