Praise for the mods and administrators

Hi there,

I just wanted to say Thank You for doing a good job keeping this place free of general jackassery.

When this place reverts to free posting I’m sure the number of trolls is going to grow by leaps and bounds, and it’s nice to have people around to keep that kind of shit to a minimum.

I am active on several other boards, and it’s always amazing how some people thrive on harassing others, and it’s equally amazing how reluctant some other mods can be to actually deal with a problem.

Keep up the good work.

Not to play junior mod but I think this belongs in the Pit.

ATMB: For technical questions and concerns about the SDMB.
BBQ Pit: This is the place for […] discussion regarding administration of the SDMB.

I’ll go ahead and report the post so a Mod can move it for you.

<rofl>

Barbarian, I agree. I’m glad some others here appreciate it, even if some appear to be less enthused. ^^^^

Well said, Barbarian, well said.

I too think the mods do a great job. You guys put up with a lot trying to keep this board civilized and I’m very thankful for that. If I could, I’d give every one of you a hug. Except maybe Giraffe. I’m not exactly sure how one goes about hugging a giraffe.

Nice Op Barbarian and I agree. Being a mod here is a pretty thankless task most of the time. They do a good job keeping the dope a great place to be.

DSYoungEsq, actually CarnalK has a point, this probably will get moved to the Pit. I opened a thread a year or two ago praising the actions of a mod and I opened it in the pit. It was questioned by some posters but it was in the correct location and left there.

Jim

Man, can you guys suck up, or what?

We’ll see. I’m actually thinking it may not matter too much: guests can post free for 30 days anyway, and the real jerks tend to burn out long before that. Spambots are kept out by the registration system, and spammers are quickly caught and reported. Few of them make more than one post, and we catch some of them before they even finish registering.

Since I’ve had the chance to talk to the Mods about board policy and trivia just about every day for the last two months, I’ve found they’re very dedicated to the board and put a great deal of thought into what they do. It’s something to see.

Meanwhile, since this is about board moderation/administration, I’m moving it to the Pit. We are sincerely appreciative, CarnalK, of your diligent attention to the rules of this forum.

Its not sucking up if the focus is of such quality as are The Luminous Ones, who sit at the right hand of Himself. Hymns and hossannas are noisy and shallow, and might disturb their meditations. Eschew such raucous demonstrations, say I, and content oneself with sombre adoration.

Heh. I thought you’d all appreciate that.

I shall endeavor to Keep My Nose Clean and Observe my Gluteous Maximus.

I, too, would like to offer a round of applause to the mods and staff in general. I think it’s a damn thankless job most of the time, and many of them make this place, well, a better place.

As for hugging giraffes, you just need a ladder.

Except for all the threads like this thanking them, oh excuse me “praising” them, and all the thanks they get any time an unpopular troll is banned. Perhaps you meant to say “largely unpaid” job? Other than that nitpick, I guess I generally appreciate their efforts around here.

Yes, I’ve frequently had to close such threads because there are just too many of them on the front page.

Gee, that’s tough - as if your job wasn’t hard enough already. What is the optimum number of thank you posts and threads?

I’m not greedy - it only needs to be equal to the number of posts and threads raining brickbats about our heads.

Just as I did in elementary school, I hereby disassociate my self from any smart alecs, gripers, whiners, or anyone who can’t spell.

Hay, how dare u due that.

And hall monitors. Republicans in larval form.

Good job, and thanks to all that keep our playground clean and troll free.
