Doper prom picture thread

We've had the SFW pictures thread, the NSFW picture thread, cats, dogs, etc. Let's have a prom (or, if you didn't go to prom, wedding) picture thread. Go ahead, dig out that picture, scan it and show us your best prom/wedding pictures! I will start with my Junior Prom. If I can find a small copy print of my Senior prom, I will add it later.

*laugh* That's gorgeous!

Sadly, we don't do the Prom thing here, so I can't share, but if I can find the photos of my Year 12 graduation day I'll scan them instead. (We wear 'dressy' clothes for it .. and you can feel the full blast of 1990 when you look at mine.)

Definitely find & scan those pics! I came across this picture while looking for something else earlier and couldn't resist uploading it.

My prom night was so many years ago, I think photography was that new-fangled gadget invented by the French.

So, here are my wedding (well, domestic-partnership) photos. You have been warned....

I have a photo from my girlfriend's prom. Debbie Shay with her feathered hair and me with my arms around her, cute as can be. I could scan and upload it to flickr or photbucket...

Unfortunately, if I posted it, I'd have to track down everyone who viewed the image and kill them. Sorry.

Junior Prom 1994. Though we're not as close as we used to be, he and I are still friends all these years later. The pink spots at the bottom are some sort of discoloration of the photo, I don't have another copy at hand, sorry.

Thanks The ballett slippers were mostly in consideration of the fact that my date was younger and not too much taller than me, but it worked out rather nicely. Other girls with sore feet said they wished they'd thought of it too.

A parent pic just before prom in 1987.

Prom was.. interesting. Not only was my date the tallest guy there, he was also one of the oldest at 20. We had wanted to rent a hotel room for the evening, but he was 2 days shy of that ability, so his parents showed up at my prom, dressed in ratty Tshirts and cutoffs, with a key for a room they rented for us.

(As gacky as it sounds, I was engaged to the doof a month before prom. His parents were pretty cool about everything - once we were engaged. My parents, OTOH, not so much. As far as they knew I stayed at a friends' house)

I loved my prom dress. With all the electric colors of the late 80's, sparkles, sequins, hairspray... my simple black dress, braided hair, and my moms pearls were so "me".

At my HS, you had to have a date to go to the prom, so no photos of me for this thread.

People should just post the photo and let people guess the year by hair and cloting styles.

Wow, MissTake, what a coupla cuties! And boy, he is tall! I definitely need to scan my sr prom picture -- my junior prom date was literally the shortest guy I have ever dated, so it's funny that in my heels we are the same height in the picture (or close enough!). I did love those off-the-shoulder dresses, but they didn't suit my style, lol.

I'll see if I can find a picture when I get home. I believe I may now, ten or so years later, be able to look at them without throwing up. Maybe. (I posted a much more humiliating picture in one "show me your awkward phase pictures" thread.)

Fate stepped in and dropped my camera about halfway through prom night, breaking the camera and exposing the whole roll of film in the process. Sooooo... no photos exist to commemorate my embarassing mid-1990's poodle bangs and ginormous glasses.

At least I had a nice prom dress (it's a 1950's vintage silk taffeta with a full circle skirt and peter pan collar), but that's in my closet whenever I feel the need to relive the moment.

Actually, now that I think of it, there might be a photo or two somewhere in the yearbook for the following year... but since I'd graduated by then, I don't have a copy and will continue to pretend that there are absolutely no photos in existence.

Parent pic here, as I can't seem to find the official one in its plastic "Wonderful Tonight" engraved picture frame. It's not a full length shot, but I can assure you the dress had a front hem higher than the back by about two feet.

(And yes, that my babydaddy.)

Aww, I am so glad I started this thread -- some of these pictures are beyond priceless. Hal, seriously, can you say OMG 80's? I think I might have had a crush on you if you'd gone to my school. Or sold you pot. Whichever.

1992? That's a great pic and looks alot more modern than most of the others posted thus far.

So I'm guessing you're around 38-40 now...aplogies if I'm overestimating.

I can't for the life of me see that you're going to be any different to the way you looked then, if anything maybe even better.

I'll be 37 this month. There are some more recent pics of me floating around here somewhere, but I'm about a hundred pounds heavier now. (It's OK though I'm working on it now.)

Hey don't worry about the weight girl just post the pics.

As we get older and our bits start to tilt down south we have to "comfort eat" to take away the pain of realising that to some we just are not as appealing as we once were.

As far as I'm concerned that pic you posted is you was then and is now

BTW: What's that bunch of flowers doing on your arm?

and who said we English can't smooth talk

It's a corsage. Standard prom prop. The boy has to bring one to give to the girl. My Mom made him get one that he wouldn't have to pin (as I had a strapless dress and she didn't want him getting that close to the goods). The one's you strapped on your wrist didn't get as squooshed either.

Junior Prom, 1986. Obviously a parent photo. I don't have most of my pictures from that era, but this was in an album of my grandfather's that was given to me after he died.

I don't have a prom picture scanned in yet (all of 'em are still hiding out in a box somewhere), but here's a '92 Sweetheart dance photo. Sweetheart was the shindig right before prom, if I recall correctly.

My sister's junior prom dress was similar to that. Not surprising, in 1966. Her hair was still up the next day, since it was too stiff to take down.

I'll have to dig for mine.

Holy crap - I had that exact same dress. I will bring the picture to work and scan it tomorrow!!!! Also, 1986

For those of you who can't appreciate the FINE details, the skirt had alternating panels of lace and dotted swiss!

I had the same issue and my mother scoured the town to find me a lovely pair of (flat) gold sandals to wear with my peach-colored dress. I think they were just thrilled that I finally had a "boyfriend" at the advanced age of 17.

We drove to the prom in his great antique car with another couple. Both guys came out shortly after high school. I'm not sure what this means, and if you are, please don't tell me.

Woo, check us out! Aren't we lovely?

Here I am. 1991. I was a middle-of-the-road fashion person, so it's not very dramatic, but you'll notice I have an 80's perm despite the fact that I have naturally curly hair. No wall o' bangs for me, though--curling irons and hairspray don't like me.

I just spent a solid hour looking for a box that I know is labeled "FRAGILE - MASTER BEDROOM" and on top of it "SENTIMENTAL" (which means "Do Not Open Until Old") - with no luck. Somewhere there's a picture frame with "A NIGHT TO REMEMBER" on it (not intentionally a Titanic reference) and a champagne class with special confetti in it and a souvenir ticket. I've only lived in this house three years - where could it have gone? I wanted to show you guys how terrifyingly scrawny my arms used to be!

ETA - but I found my pearls! The ones my parents gave me for my twentieth birthday! The ones that I've been looking for... evidently since I packed that OTHER box labeled "FRAGILE - MASTER BEDROOM" which evidently meant two Beanie Babies, a box of checks (now wrongly addressed), and zero actually fragile items. Some sentimental ones, but it wasn't labeled as such. But my pearls!

These are great! Here are mine:

Junior year (I'm the one in the middle)

Senior year (my mom cropped out my date...we don't like that guy anymore)

'90 and '91. Fellow late 80's/early 90's graduates, let's have a moment of silence for the cans of Aquanet that died by our hands.
