Doc Films
Doc Films at University of Chicago is showing a series of Edgar G. Ulmer films on Sunday nights, fall quarter 2008... not to be missed.

Ha, just noticed the new forums (thanks Pit!). Doc Films shows a lot of great films, but it's really only for Hyde Parkers since there aren't many theaters down there. I live way north, don't own a car, so it's a bitch to get to. The one and only time I've been there was to see a free screening of Stop Loss, and that was only because the director, Kimberly Pierce, was there to give a talk after the film.
It does show a lot of good movies though, and must be a godsend for movie lovers in the area. |

We live in a far north suburb and make the trip down to Hyde Park on Sunday nights when there's something we like there.
(BTW, I posted the OP a few months ago when these forums were being set up, just as a trial. The Ulmer series is now over, and Doc shows a new schedule each U of C quarter: http://docfilms.uchicago.edu/ |

I have fond memories of stumbling across campus to catch the Sunday night Doc films showing (10+ yrs ago!). As a UofC grad, I urge anyone in Chicago to take advantage of the Max Palevsky ("invested in a little start-up called Intel") Cinema.
