Chippie the Kitty Needs a (Temporary) Home

First of all, this thread has been cleared through Tuba.

Chippie is an indoor-only adult male tabby. He belongs to Jesse, an 18-year-old high school senior who is expected to move into a group home, presumably after graduation, to help with her mental illness (she’s bipolar). Chippie won’t be able to go along so he’ll need other accommodations, preferably one that will allow Jesse to reclaim him once she does have a home that allows cats. We’d take him in but AC is allergic to cats, we didn’t know how allergic when we took in Nicky & Kipper. When AC’s face finally cleared up the morning after BiblioCat’s daughter retrieved the lovable furballs, we knew.

Any Dopers (or former Dopers) in the DC/Baltimore area willing to take in a kitty?

I’m nowhere near, but wishing you luck in finding a place for Chippie!

I wish I could, but I am living with my parents at the moment, and we already have 3 cats and they would not be keen on another one. Good luck to Chippie and Jesse!

Turns out Jesse will instead be moving in with a girlfriend. Thanks for the thoughts, though.

I’m glad that Jesse will be able to take Chippie with her. I couldn’t do without my daily dose of fur therapy.

An interesting note: the lone cat on the ship Endeavor, which was icebound when Shackleton took her into Antarctic ice, was named Mrs. Chippie. She was the cook’s pet. She was killed along with the dogs when they realized they wouldn’t be able to feed them during their ordeal.

Mrs. Chippy was a boy, as it turned out. But at least he was not forgotten. http://http://travel.nytimes.com/2004/11/21/travel/sophisticated/21STEND.html

I seem to have completely forgotten how to post a link. Sorry. Can someone PLEASE fix that mess for me? I’ve tried twice.

Sure - here you go.
