First off, I have asked for and received permission from TubaDiva to start this thread.
Due to a major life upheaval, I am moving in about a month am unable to take my cats with me. It’s killing me to get rid of them, and I cannot bring myself to take them to a shelter, so I want to find new homes for them.
I’d like to keep them together, but would not insist on it. They both came from a no-kill shelter (Defenders of Animal Rights) as kittens.
Kipper is about 7 years old, an all-black female. She is a typical cat, a little stand-offish, but quite loveable once she warms up to you. She can hear a tuna can open from across the house. She gets first dibs on the water from said tuna cans and likes catnip mice. If they have to be split up, she would be better as an ‘only cat.’ She doesn’t like dogs.
Nicky is about 5 years old, and is black and white. He’s very playful and loves to play fetch with those little balls with the bell inside. He likes other cats and tolerates dogs. He also likes canteloupe.
I am in the Baltimore suburbs, and am willing to deliver or meet you halfway.
I’ll even provide litter boxes, food bowls and an assortment of toys. I only have one cat carrier, though.
**They’re both declawed in front, so they need to be indoor-only cats. **
They’re also completely litter-box trained.
You can see the furballs here.
Kipper is the black one, Nicky is the black and white guy.
No one? They’re really nice cats.
All the cat-loving Dopers around here, and no one wants a cute kitty or two?
I forgot to mention, I’ll include this kitty climber thing, too. IIRC, it was $150 at PetSmart.
(Please ignore the mess in the background - that’s the room where all the packed boxes are being thrown.)
I’d love to, but we already have two and there’s no way my SO would accept any more (he’s fallen in love with one, but just tolerates the other). Good luck – I’d hate for them to go to a shelter.
They’re fixed and have had basic shots, but may be a little behind on updates.
To be honest, things have been a little crazy around here for a long while, and this move is part of working out that craziness and moving on with my life.
I’m not sure how often cats need to get boosters for things like rabies and other stuff.
I can get records from the vet, but getting full checkups and shots is not something I can afford to do right now.
BiblioCat offered me the cats, but I decided against them since I run a “kitties allowed outside” household, which I’m still feeling a trifle guilty about. (The not taking, not the kitties outside rule, which I’m completely okay with.) Anyway, if there’s a prob with the cats needing a vet visit and no one having extra cash at the moment, I’d be happy to throw in a few bucks towards the vet bill to salve my conscience.
Bibliocat, you offered the kitties to me before but I had to turn them down becasue of my travels in June. If they are still around and need a home after the July 4 weekend, I can take them.
Looks like we’ll be getting new furry friends on the 30[sup]th[/sup]. Rest assured, Kipper and Nicky won’t be leaving our building unless on a leash or in a carrier, at least not on purpose.
Kipper is practically an exact copy of Shadow, a male kitty who adopted my family when I was a kid. Shadow got himself mangled in Dad’s car when I was about 12.
