MD/DC/NoVa/SoEast PA Dopers - Kitties Need A Home!

Check your email.

Got it.

Nicky’s falling asleep under the extra dining room chairs and Kipper’s still hiding under the bed.

So where’s the photos? Huh? Huh?

I’ll post links once I set up a space on Photobucket or somewhere.

Nicky has wedged himself under our chess table.

Kipper has yet to give us a good photo op.

Thanks for the picture. I hope Kipper comes out soon, but I have a feeling she’ll keep herself hidden for a few days. She’ll probably come out at night to eat and use the litterbox.

I hope they both adjust to their new home. Thank again for taking them in.

Glad to help. We love cats but it’s been quite a while since either of us had any around at home

I was going to put up a photo of Shadow so you can see how much he looked like Kipper but I don’t know where I put it. It’s not in my album.

Oh, and Kipper did emerge for a short time. She climbed atop the bed she had been under, unfortunately that was right before I told A.C. that it was time for dinner and the kitty got startled.

Kipper on the bed; she moved into a closet some time during the night. Took us a while to track her down.

Nicky has taken over Kipper’s spot under the bed. He wants to come out for petting but he’s not sure.

Kip loves closets. She seems to enjoy being a kitty cave dweller. I’m glad she came out, though, as she seemed very stressed on the way down. Nicky should come around-I’d honestly thought he’d be the first to warm to new digs.

Yes, Kipper is a cave-kitty. One time we were on vacation and my mother stayed here to cat-sit. She couldn’t figure out why the hall closet doors (bi-fold type) were always open. She’d close them and go about her business. She’d come back and they’d be open again.
When we got home, I explained that Kipper knows how to open the closet doors by getting her paw under it in just the right spot and wiggling it open. Then she’d get in the closet and sit in the back, watching the world (or rather, us) go by.

I’m glad they seem to be warming up. I was very worried about them, and haven’t stopped thinking about them all weekend.

Nicky has emerged from under the bed and is now exploring the bedroom.

Seems they’ve been exploring the rest of the place at night. Kip and Nicky both ventured into the hallway while I was getting ready for bed last night.

ETA: A.C. and I sleep in separate rooms because they’re too small for us to fit all our stuff into just one.

Dinner tonight is mac & cheese with peas & tuna. If they come running for tuna water we’ll know they’ve settled in.

When we brought our insane Aby into the house, she spent the first 2 nights under the bed, and the first week afraid to venture forth from the bedroom. Once I enticed her to the hallway, she decided she owned the place. I expect you’ll get to that point pretty soon.

Don’t think they came out for tuna water but I just lured Nicky into the hallway by petting. He subsequently explored the main bathroom and almost went into the kitchen. Kip is evidently still being nocturnal cave kitty.

Thanks for the updates. I’m sure Nicky will be the one to warm up first. I was really worried about him - he seemed so stressed on the ride down.
Kipper will take more time to warm up, but she’s very loving once she gets comfy in her surroundings.

I was trying to sleep around midnight and heard this crash. Sat up, looked around, and there was Nicky on my weight bench. I have no idea what he did to make that much noise, my weights are the rubber band type. Anyway, he was exploring my room and stayed on the bed for a while.

Yeah, he’s good at making those mysterious midnight noises.
If he’s up, everyone’s up!
