Anyone know a good tailor or alterations person?

I was given a bunch of jeans in good condition about a year ago, and have never worn them because they need to be hemmed. The woman who gave them to me is quite a bit taller than me, so they fit well in the hips & waist but need some length reduction.

I have a few other things that need slightly more complicated work, but I'll probably wait on those until I'm confident of the person's skill. I have a tailor just down the street from me, and made the mistake of taking something rather important to me to him (rather than just some jeans) first. That's also why I'm looking for recommendations.
