My wife's in the hospital

After she was sick for a week, I had to take her to the emergency room yesterday with trouble breathing, and she was sick enough that they admitted her to intensive care. The good news today is that barring confirmation of tests she’s probably not as sick as the doctors first feared; pneumonia rather than a blood clot in the lung, so she’ll be around for a while yet. I will say that this was a VERY unpleasant preview of the day that’s going to come sooner or later, and I feel more like a temporary reprieve has been given.

Scary !!! I’m glad to hear that she’s doing better.

{{{ Lumpy and Mrs. Lumpy }}}

I’m wishing her and you the best of a speedy and efficient recovery.

very scary. i hope she does well and is home with you soon.

Best wishes to Mrs. Lumpy also. Get well soon.

BTW, Lumpy, when we get sick, we always feel old and sense our mortality. Unless Mrs. Lumpy is a lot older than you, you can stave off the inevitable for quite a few more decades…

Take care.

I am sorry to hear your news! Sending healing thoughts her way and supporting thoughts yours!

Hugs to you and Mrs Lumpy, and here’s to her getting well right quick!

Update: she came home today and is going to be on oxygen at least for the time being. She’s still pretty weak, but hopefully is going to improve as she gets over the bronchitis she’s taking antibiotics for.

Excellent news! Many positive thoughts going out to you both as she (and you) recover from this.

I’m so sorry for the pain and fear you have suffered; but really glad to ear it’s curable.

Nothing particularly wise or wonderful to add I’m afraid, just wanted yout o know I’m listening, and all.

I’m really glad she’s home, and I hope she recovers rapidly.

Sending out a new wish for a quick recovery!

Lumpy–I’m glad she seems to be getting better.

Updates?

Latest update: my wife is mostly ok but still needs oxygen about half the time (we got a home oxygen machine). Oh, weeks after it’s too late to do anything, her tests came back positive for swine flu. And since I’d been suffering from a “nasty chest cold” at the same time, I presume I had it as well. Both she and I seem to be suffering from lingering afteraffects: sleeping a lot, depression, and resurgence of weakness and coughing if we overexert ourselves.

Also, we got the hospital bill today. When I read the bottom line, I said that sleeping in a high-priced callgirl’s bed is cheaper than sleeping in a hospital bed.

Good to hear she’s doing better. Now, for God’s sake, don’t let her wander off into the creek bed unsupervised.

Does this make you and your wife the first SDMB people diagnosed with the swine flu?

You’re famous!

Won’t be the last, mores the pity.

Glad you & the wife are alive, Lumpy.

Get well soon.

Wow. Glad you made it through! Sending healing thoughts your way!

Glad to hear she’s home and feeling better! So sorry you had to go through the stress and scare of her being hospitalized in the first place. . .and of course, sorry to hear she’s been feeling so badly!

Healing vibes are headed out for both of you!
