Dammit, I missed the latest episode-when’s it on again? I’m not on my usual computer so I can’t look it up too well.
My DVR cut off the last minute so I’m not sure how it ended! And my onscreen guide doesn’t list any repeat in the next 2 weeks.
NOOOO!
I just searched at the BBC America website, and couldn’t find any more airings. And it doesn’t seem to be available on iTunes yet.
I wish BBC America had advertised this episode a little better. I only found out about it by accident on my cable guide. Instead, they’re advertising the hell out of the new Torchwood miniseries.
I found out about it much the same way you did. I agree they needed to advertise it better.
The DVR also cut off the last minute, but I was able to go downstairs and finish it. Nothing interesting happened FWIW.
This was the 2008 Christmas special, right?
I accidentally came across it Saturday night around 11pm. I missed the first few minutes.
It was a good episode and I kinda wish the guy who was playing “The Next Doctor” would have been the new one. I liked him.
Unfortunately, I can’t remember what happened at the last few minutes. The episode was 1 hour 15 minutes long.
I do recall things were wrapped up nicely and it was a happy ending for “The New Doctor”, wish I could recall the specifics, though.
I, too, found it via the onscreen guide. The end:
Jackson Lake and the Doctor are outside the real TARDIS. Jackson invites the Doctor to Christmas dinner with him, his son, and Rosita, in honor of those they have and those they’ve lost. The Doctor refuses, as usual, but invites Jackson into the Tardis.
Jackson goes in, takes a look around, and calls it “nonsense. Marvellous nonsense.” Although presumably had been exposed to the concept via the infostamp, Jackson eventually runs back outside. The Doctor follows.
Once again, Jackson extends the offer for dinner, in honor of those they have and those they’ve lost. The Doctor ponders for a moment, reconsideres, and they walk away.
On preview: right. The Doctor, Jackson Lake, and Rosita had also appeared in a special for Children in Need.
I also happened upon Who in the program guide by accident on Saturday an hour before it aired. I’ve been burned enough by DVR cut-off to almost always program in extra time at the tail end of shows. So I guess I can count myself amongst the extra lucky ones. Hopefully some one here will be nice enough to remind us about Torchwood’s airing in July… hint hint
Just watched the Children in Need “special.” It’s merely a preview of the Christmas special, not like previous years where they actually did something… special.
A heads up to you all that the next episode, Planet of the Dead, will be aired on BBC America on July 26th. It’ll also be shown on their HD channel (though what services will actually *have *that channel, I don’t know.)
Yeah, for some reason the listings had this ending about 5 minutes earlier than it actually ended. Fortunately for me, I noticed this shortly after my first DVR recording ended, so I was able to pick up the 2nd airing they did that same night, and add the extra time needed to get it all.
Does anyone rememberwhat the letters TARDIS stood for with the balloon? I forgot and can’t go back and check because I already cleaned the episode off my DVR.
