A.R. Cane--R.I.P

Member A.R. Cane evidently died last year. We don’t have any other information. He was one of the older members of the Board.

Aww, man…this really sucks. : /

R.I.P. I remember reading a lot of his posts…he was a really great poster.

One of the things I love about our community is that it has members of all ages, from middle schoolers to senior citizens. It’s sad to lose one of our older members

Damn. :frowning:
That sucks.

Aw geez. :frowning: I’m sorry to hear that.

I have his birth year as 1939 in my Doper Birth Years spreadsheet.

Jan. 13, 1939 according to his own created user profile.

Ah, alright.

How did y’all happen to find out, if you don’t mind my asking?

:frowning:

Oh, dear. I remember that his long-lost daughter had found him about 4 years ago. I’m glad they had a few years together.

I remember his posts. I’m sorry to hear that he’s no longer with us. :frowning:

One of the mods who knew his real name did a google search and found his obituary.

In his last thread, A.R. Cane disclosed that he had a terminal illness.

A.R. Cane had lung cancer for quite a while. He wanted every smoker to know how he suffered, and that they should quit. RIP, buddy.

How very sad. My condolences go out to his loved ones.

Yeah, I remembered that one a few months ago and did a search, and his last posting on the board was to that thread :frowning:

It’s not really a surprise because I’d seen that thread, but I’m sorry he’s gone. My condolences to his family if they ever stumble across this.

My heartfelt condolences.

Could someone link to it? I’d like to know more about the man.

Condolences to his family. :frowning:

My bad – it wasn’t an obituary, it was the Social Security database. Confirmation, dates of birth and death, no details.

This stings a little. Here’s the first thread A.R. Cane started at the Straight Dope - and look who the first two replies come from.
