Today I loaded 9.5 tons of concrete into a low-boy hauler for recycling. By hand.
Yeah, I had some help, but it was a first for me.

Anecdote: Back in the day, when I worked at a bindery/print shop, I did 100+ tons by hand (no joke, 135,000 copies of the Cable Guide, published by TV Guide, by far a binder record) in a 12-hour shift and I got bupkis for it except my name on a plaque, if I was lucky. Hell, that might still be a record on a Heidelberg perfect binder for all I know. Probably not, though.

I used to be an associate producer at the TV station where I still work. It always amused me, every time I had an evaluation, to see that my job description required that I be able to carry 25 pounds. It’s probably in there due to osha regulations and because the description is for a state job, but I was always like, 25 pounds? Seriously? That’s only ONE 4-year-old. Try carrying that AND a load of groceries, a purse, diaper bag, umbrella and talk on the cell phone all at the same time.
