I feel bad for Haiti, I really do. But is there any reason why this concert has to be on 20 channels

holy shit. how many effing stations need to broadcast this thing!

There’s a concert?

I reckon nobody wants to be the one network that didn’t air it.

All the channels decided to devote time to raising money for Haiti. More channels, more chance to raise money to those who really desperately need help now. There are plenty of other channels to watch if it ain’t yer cup of tea.

basically the only show you can watch is TBN’s wrap up of Pat Robertson’s commentaries for the week.

It’s not that i’m being inconvenienced or anything, I have DVR, but it’s just a little ridiculous if you ask me.

It’s only on one channel over here :stuck_out_tongue:

Still have it on though, mainly for background music.

Sit tight. It’s only 2 hours–only about one left…

So, Rumor, like me, ya must not have a dish network. I have antennae TV, and am have the concert now as backround. I can be a music snob, and get irritated at crap music, but just now, when Taylor whatever her name is takes the time to to contribute to an important cause, I soften and let go… the money raised here can save lives, right now. It’s not ridiculous to the people in Haiti who really have nothing, and not much prospect for the future.

I admire all the efforts made, and hope it gains a lot of funds for those in need. It’s wonderful that so many people are giving broadcast time, every dollar makes a difference.

No, I have cable. Again, i’m not inconvenienced by it, i’m not mad that networks choose to displace their programming, it’s a worthy cause, etc. I just find it asinine that it needs to be on 20! stations. It’s almost as if, as has been mentioned, that you dare not air the program for fear of having a finger pointed at you - which is lame.

Well, what if the simple answer is that everyone wants to contribute to a good cause? I really don’t understand an immediate cynical jump to. Perhaps I’m getting soft in my older years. Ain’t embarrassed about that at all.

It is on a lot of channels, and I was going to turn it off and check out something on the DVR, but then I got caught up in the music. It’s pretty good, so much nicer than the overproduced pop most of these artists are known for.

I imagine quite a bit of money is making its way over, but I was surprised by MSNBC during lunch today when one of the newscasters said it could take up to two years for the money to be dispersed to the people. I guess late is better than never for some cases.

What happened in Haiti?

Ill start watching when the celebs document how much cash THEY are donating

Yeah. Singing standards really shows off some of their talent much better.

Well, they’re still going to need help in two years, so I’m not seeing a problem if there’s still money to be dispersed then. Port au Prince won’t be (re)built in a day.

32 channels here (Comcast in New England). That’s gotta be some kind of record.

George Clooney gave $1 million.

And their time is worth something. Worth it or not, these celebs get paid a lot for their time in their jobs.

I left the TV on the program and am using the 2 hours to reflect on how, although I have had a tough 2009 because I was laid off from my job, my life is good in general compared to the people of Haiti who were suffering even before the earthquake. It’s just an accident of birth that I was born in a safe country where I have opportunity.

As did Leo, Brad and Sandra Bullock. They’re the ones I read about, there’s almost certainly others.

…I dunno, but apparently there’s a concert or somethin’ :dubious:
