The Good Wife - anyone watching?

Anyone watching besides me, that is. I think it's really well-done, very well-acted, Some over-man-episode plot arcs, intertwined with a legal story/mystery of the week. Juliana Marguilies is just lovely; "Mr Big" [forgotten actor's real name] makes you forget "Mr Big", and well, all of the actors are good. Especially interesting is the character of Kalinda [don't quote on the spelling] an investigator who works for the law firm where 'the good wife' is working while hubby, the disgraced ex state's attorney is in prison or awaiting a new, hopefully not fixed trial in which his affairs won't play such a big part. Kalinda is fierce. check her out.

We also like this show a lot - well written, good acting, excellent cast.
It has won some awards, and I believe the ratings are pretty good, so it looks like at least another season will be in the works.
I sort of like "Mr. Big" not being in the house, but we'll see how this works out; would ruin the premise of the story if they made up and happily ever after ensues.

I like it, too. Not too much soap opera, and the legal cases each week are usually well done. I do have one bone to pick with last night's episode, though. When Kalinda showed up at the murder scene, the detective said something about "murder in the suburbs", but they were all Chicago cops. At least they got the Chicago police uniforms and cars right.

Kalinda is a great character. That stunt she pulled with the State's Attorney and the judge while she was on the witness stand was fabulous! I love Christine Baranski's character too.

We watched the first ep, and although I enjoyed the Kalinda character (I think- the smokin' hot investigator at the law firm), we were disappointed that Marguilies is playing another joyless character. So we deleted the season pass.

I love it. I watched the first couple episodes and then started recording it because it doesn't come on until 10:00 here. I never got around to watching them until this past weekend when I had a marathon. I hope other people are watching it because I'll be bummed if it gets cancelled.

It has been renewed for next season.

I'm a fan -- top-notch cast, good mix of the "weekly" stories with the overarching storyline.

And Kalinda definitely rocks. Her on the stand the other night ... heh. Heh heh heh.

I suspect the name holds it back, "The Good Wife" sounds like a drama about the trails and tribulations of a housewife trying to keep a family together.

My frustration with the show is Juliana Marguilies' idiot kids. Someone needs to slap the fillings out of her meddling son's mouth. Otherwise I really enjoy it.

So what's with the story line a few weeks ago where she hired (and fired) the nanny? I forget the details now, but wasn't there some gray area as to whether or not the kids were at fault or it was the nanny, and they blamed each other?

I love this show, but I'm a couple weeks behind, so I'm skipping the rest of the posts

How much is Chris Noth in it? I was gonna watch despite my mild dislike of Juliana Margulies because between Noth and Josh Charles, hoo doggies, that's a lot of pretty! But I kept forgetting, and then I discovered that Noth's character is actually in jail throughout it and heard that it was a regular legal drama, which I've OD-ed on after years of L&O.

But you guys are making it sound quite good, so I'll tune in after all!

Oh, yes. This is my show. (Well, this, Mercy, the late Dollhouse, & Accidentally on Purpose, but The Good Wife may be the best as a drama, even given the often eyebrow-raising use of the law in plots.)

Kalinda scares me a little.

He's usually in every episode at least for a little bit. And yes, he's looking mighty tasty even in prison orange...

Yeah, I agree. The name implies that it focuses on her identity as a wife rather than her trying to create an identity other than "wife." I was resistant to the show because of the name, but somebody talked me into watching it, and I've been hooked ever since. Christine Baranski is great in this.

re the nanny - I think Alicia rightly fired her because she didn't like her (I didn't either; she was a jerk) but the kids sort of set her up because she was finding out things they didn't want their mom to know.

I watched 1.5 episodes. I couldn't get into it because the character was so utterly devoid of humor that I found myself wishing to escape from her world. Her kids were bratty, her marriage was a wreck, and her former friends had deserted her. Gosh, if I want that sort of drama, I'll talk to one of my neighbors.

If they've introduced plot lines that involve something other than Nurse Hathaway as a driven lawyer, as opposed to a driven nurse, then I might watch. Otherwise, I need more comic relief in my dramas.
