Good Wife - Who's watching with me?

anyone else here still watching “The Good Wife” ? I think it’s just about the best drama on network TV. still, some nitpicks - the plot and focus have shifted from just the wife and the philandering political husband, which is good because the show has a wealth of interesting characters. However I fear they are trying to squeeze too much into each show now, not giving any one character or thread enough time.

any thoughts on the Kalinda/Carey matchup? too easy for the writers? will anything come of it?

Is Alicia any better than her husband, infedelity-wise, or does she just think she is? I’m liking Will less and less - deliberate on the writers’ part? Cheap set-up so Alicia gets hurt again, or attempt at complex characterization.

Mrs. Slow Moving DVR’s episodes and watches them while I read. I watch with half an eye because I’ve had a thing for Juliana Margulies since she was on ER; she’s stunning, both then and now. I also have fond memories of Josh Charles from Sports Night.

I thought Alicia was separated or divorced from her husband.

she is separated, so I guess technically she has not been unfaithful.

Peter’s mother snooping through Alicia’s dirty laundry – yikes.

I have a hard time taking Alan Cumming seriously as the father of a teenage girl.

Yes, but Alan Cumming has a lot of fun with the role; it’s a great character. I love the show. My only regret is not watching it from the very beginning. (I don’t think I ever did see the first couple of episodes.)

Yeah, I’m delighted he became a regular – he started out with just kind of a guest role, thought he’d be around for a few eps, but apparently you and I aren’t the only ones who love him.

I don’t think the teenage girl takes the Alan Cumming character very seiously as her father.

really, everyone’s good on this show. amazing.

Ever seen Alan Cumming interviewed in his native Scottish accent? It’s amazing - the guy has one of the better American accents I’ve heard from a British actor.

In the “hard to swallow department”: What does she see in him?

ftg - exactly. what would she see in him, indeed.

and hearing Alan Cumming speak with his normal Scottish accent is quite the shock after watching him here on this show.

I still watch it. I guess it’s working for me; because my emotions really boil over on some of the characters. I’m speaking of her evil sneaky no good mother-in-law; and her idiot sneaky no good kids. I hate them so much It almost makes me stop watching.

I usually get distracted by Kalinda. She comes across as very classy in her dress and manner, but I can’t lock onto why exactly. Maybe it’s the soft voice or the accent? Maybe it’s she never loses control of her emotions. I don’t know.

I’m watching it–have been since the beginning.

I* like* Carey. Not sure why, but I guess I’m onto guys that hold their emotions kinda close. A while ago (last season maybe?) there was a scene with a girl, I’m thinking it was his cousin, or a daughter of a friend, but they were at a college campus and he was so nice with her–big brother kind of nice, but I saw a new side of Carey and I guess that’s when I really noticed him.

Kalinda on the other hand…she always has struck me as someone who is a bit lost in her own world, watching everyone else’s, never quite sure where she fits in with everything. Very briefly at one point, they tried to bring in the fact that she (was? is?) married and something happened to her husband, and that she used to go by another name. That was dropped, or maybe resolved and I missed it.

I love, love, love Alan Cummings. Love his character (although that mole thing in between his eyebrows is getting on my nerves). I think the relationship with he daughter (who I’m thinking is older than a teen–isn’t she in college or something?) is perfect–he’s so much of a control freak, wanting to have tight reigns on so many other people’s lives (do this, don’t do that, say this, don’t say that), and so many people come to him for advice, his daughter is the wild card–the one he can’t control or advise. I’m betting she is probably just like he was at that age.

I love Christine B…whatever her last name is, who plays Diane Lockheart. Good actress. And it doesn’t hurt that Diane Lockheart is a very stylish woman who has some smarts. However, I really wish the writers would have paired her with whatshisname…the guy with the guns. They were such a mis-matched, but equal pair, and I would have liked to have seen more of them and their relationship.

I may get push back from this, but Juliana Margulies is probably my least favorite actress of all time. For me, she has nearly no emotion and can deliver any line exactly the same–nearly emotionless, without surprise, passion, anger, fear or sorrow. Alicia’s husband screws around on her with a hooker, her family is publically humiliated, her husband goes to jail, yet, she plays the cool wife with no emotion. Serously, she never threw a plate at his head or screamed at him, or anything? What does she eventually do? Rents him an apartment, packs his crap, and hands him the keys. Really. Really?

I wasn’t crazy about her on E.R. and I’m not crazy about her in The Good Wife, either. I do, however, like the show.
