If you HAD to have one or the other, which aspect of 9/11 would you choose to keep? [edited title]

What was saddest/worst/other superlative thing about 9/11? If you absolutely *had *to choose between these two alternatives, which one would be your lesser of the two evils? Note that the poll is phrased so that you choose which one you’d rather have happen.

Sorry, people who don’t like binary choices; you’re stuck on this one. I’m sure some people will be eager to argue with the phrasing of the second option, too.

Inspired by a discussion tangent exemplified by this post.

The deaths were tragic, but face it, in sheer numbers that’s the equivalent to the traffic fatalities over a holiday weekend or two. The utter raping of our civil rights, the death toll in Iraq, and all the other rot far outweighs the death toll.

Tough, I’m picking neither. I’m going with the addition of “God Bless America” to the seventh inning stretch. I’ve stopped going to baseball games because I’ve grown tired of explaining that I don’t stand up because I hate God, not America, especially because the explanation doesn’t do me a lot of good with most people.

This.

Bill Door, that falls under the “et cetera” of option #2. I originally had a lot more written, but apparently there’s a lame-ass 100-character limit on poll options, so I had to drastically cut down.

So, to clarify, the options pretty much boil down to:

A.) The original attack.

B.) The massive clusterfuck fallout from and terrible reactions to Option A.

and those twin towers, while not “beautiful” per se , very iconic. When I lived in New York the best part of my day was getting of work, drinking some beer in Washington Square looking at the towers down Thompson St.

Hrm. Either the “the deaths were the worst part” camp is just voting silently, or people are getting confused because the thread title and poll question phrase the question oppositely. I’m gonna see if a mod can edit the thread title.

I’ve edited the title for the OP to reflect what his poll was about.

Another vote for this.

The edited title doesn’t make sense.

What would I choose to keep, the loss of personal freedom or all the deaths? This means that my answer now means that I’d prefer the loss of freedom which isn’t what I meant at all.

I just voted for Alvin Greene. :smack:

I’m the one who changed the title, at the request of the OP. Guess I should have worked a little harder.

I’m closing this one as a disaster. I’ll request the OP start over and title it correctly this time.

Again, I’m partly responsible for this one.
