US Voting poll-did you vote today, or not (+ extras)

I’m curious to see what the breakdown is here on the board. In addition, I’d like to hear from those who didn’t vote and get their reasons why they didn’t (I listed a few, with the obligatory Other category at the end). Just one vote per Doper (finally decided)

Yes, and I chose “mostly Republicans” because that’s what we have the most of here (not much choice).

It’s really only the Senate and House that I cared about party. For the rest, though, there are few Republicans running (It’s Democrat vs Green). I only voted for one, and I can’t even remember who it was. I just remember he actually had a platform, while the other guy didn’t.

I also voted Green for governor, but that’s because Beebe is doing something stupid with Medicaid, and the Republican is just stupid, period.

Also, I was tempted to vote other since I voted last Thursday, as I announced in the election forum. But I knew you seemed to be more interested in who I voted for, and not when.

I actually voted last week, but I’ll assume you’re counting me, since I didn’t want to waste my vote on “other.”

Straight D ticket; the only way I’ll vote for a Republican is if he’s paradoxically to the left of the Democratic candidate – like when Tom Metzger won a primary that one time – or if Lyndon LaRouche somehow gets nominated.

Also voted last week - and it seems 60% of Nevadans who voted this election also voted early as well.
I love early voting - can remember in the old days waiting in lines for an hour or more - now you can go pretty much anywhere for the two weeks leading up to the election and maybe wait 5 to 10 minutes, tops. Makes it far more convenient and, as the numbers seem to indicate, also seems to be quite popular.
Oh, and yes - pretty much solid Democratic candidates for me.

I voted today, straight Democrat ticket. I carefully examined the Republican offerings, and I didn’t like any of them. I wasn’t thrilled with a lot of the Dems who were running, but they were, in each race, better than the Pubs. Voting a straight Dem ticket meant that I didn’t get to vote for each race, because a lot of races had only one candidate, and that person was Republican.

This was my first time voting electronically. I think I kind of like it.

Yes other, but not primarily independents. I did vote for a couple independents, some republicans, and some democrats.

It was my first experience with voting absentee ballot - I have a horrid bad cold so my roomie got me the paperwork to request an absentee ballot when she went up to vote, I filled it out, she ran it back up and brought me back the package, I voted, packaged it up again and she ran it back.

Yes, straight D.

I had worked on a couple of campaigns, plus done general volunteer work with the Democratic party in my county this election cycle. My hopes got dashed when even one of our long term state reps in my district lost. I think there were tears in my eyes when he shook my hand after conceding the race. Not a good day for Dems, especially in Tennessee.

Other: Mailed in my ballot a couple weeks ago; voted straight Libertarian ticket, except Jerry Brown for governor of California.

I voted in all races in my state but the only person who won was for County Clerk. I’m an independent and used to “more of the same” winning all the time.

I’m a U.S. citizen and I suppose I could have voted by mail, but I decided to stop voting in U.S. elections several years ago.

I didn’t vote yesterday since I had mailed in my ballot about a month ago. I was eligible to vote only for Senator and Representative. I held my nose and voted for the Dems, both of whom lost.

No. All of the “No” responses plus:

I’m not registered.
I don’t follow politics.
I don’t even watch the news.
I am patently unqualified to make an informed, intelligent decision.

Alright fine, I’m just lazy.

In the House race I voted for Democrat Rick Waugh even though I new there was zero chance of him defeating incumbent Republican Eric Cantor, who will, presumably, now become the Majority Whip. In the City Council race I wasn’t planning to vote for anybody, but someone was holding a sign outside the polling place declaring that Floyd Bane is a Republican, so I voted for the other guy. (I don’t know who won that race.)

To finish up my ballot, I voted ‘yes’ on two amendments adjusting how the state manages payouts to disabled veterans and the elderly and ‘no’ on an expansion of the Rainy Day Fund.

Then you could have felt free to have chosen one of the “Yes” options (man people here can certainly be very literal…), since your vote would have been registered by yesterday and thus in a sense you did vote on Election Day…

Tell me about it-in my US Congressional District this year, the Democrats didn’t even bother running anybody against the inveterate Country Club Republican we have here-instead some Libertarian was on the ballot. I scribbled in “None of the Above” on the write-in line.

Other. Mailed my ballot over a week ago. Of course, I’ll never know if it arrived.

Yes. Straight Republican.

As Lynn says above, many (maybe half?) the races had only republicans running.

Interestingly, in my precinct there were only candidates on the ballot. No propositions, amendments, etc. I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen that.

Other. I just get to be a bystander in these things, since I don’t have a vote. However, if I had, I would probably have voted straight Democrat.

I picked other. I’m still a registered Republican but an increasingly disenchanted one. I don’t remember who I voted for in every single race down to and including assistant dogcatcher (kidding, barely). I think I voted about 40% Republican, 30% Democrat, and 30% Independent.

“No, There’s no appreciable difference between the parties, so my vote ultimately doesn’t matter”

I’m from PA. I did some research on the candidates, found I was 50/50 on supporting each of the major tickets so it didn’t matter to me either way. Now that the results are in, I’m still ok with that.
